And man was it awesome! My brother and I were the only ones there :D.The graphics are beautiful even on medium settings with no AA. Almost every object has physics. If you shoot a bottle, it breaks up into tiny pieces and the pieces fly everywhere and don't disappear. If you guys have any questions about the game, go ahead and ask. I'll do my best to answer them.

If you're standing right on top of a frag grenade with full health and it goes off, is it instant death or is it just a bunch of damage?

Hmmm .. im going with my bro to a cafe tommrow. Hopefully we will have people to play against. BTW were there a lot of servers with people in them?

Sometimes it kills you, sometimes you get extreme damage. You get different damage every time because the grenade is an actual object and distance affects damage realistically. My brother was shooting T's in close quarters and one threw a grenade. My bro went flying across the map, landing hard with his hand clutching his heart (when the physics do this, it looks sickeningly real.)

So yeah, a grenade that is right under you will instantly kill most of the time.

No, not many servers, very little players. Most servers have 0 players while others have 16 and stuff like that.

Yes, how many servers are there, and are the nerfed guns such as the terrorist automatic sniper rifle balanced more? Is the USP more accurate with the silencer now? Basically do the guns balance better?

Sweet!! I was always annoyed about the fact that in 1.6 and CZ, the nade wouldn't kill...... I don't know too many people who have survived being next to a live nade and living....except for that serbian guy that works at the Circuit City here....

We played de_dust. There were around 18 players on our server with 40 slots available. There are not that many servers.

Assuming you played 1.6 , how do the guns feel? the same amount of recoil? less? easier to control etc? the colt for example, could you tell me if its changed?

All of the guns seem very powerful and have great sounds. There is a very nice shine effect on the floor in the hallway at de_dust. Light from the sun shines through windows beautifully and you can see dust particles floating around in the light. The terrorist Automatic sniper is balanced more in that it is harder to hit people while unscoped...with the scope on, it is very accurate and dangerous. They have kept the double zoom feature on all sniper rifles. All guns with silencers are more accurate than they were is CS 1.6.

I had no complaints whatsoever about gun balance. Everything seemed fair and the hit detection was absolutley wonderful.

EDIT: NM But what time did you play CS:S?

From 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM...2 hours of great fun. You guys will absolutely love it.

All of the gun models are awesome. You can see the fingernails clearly and the gloves are even nicer than the CZ gloves. The skinning on the models looks so much better. The animations are very smooth...I especially like the C4 arm/disarm animations...very cool.

Was two hours enough or did you want to play more? Because I'm thinking of going in for 2 hours.

i have question that i am sure u didnt come across while playing the game but i would ask it neways incase ne1 knows the answer , well if some1 thorws a gernade would it be possible to shoot the gernade in the air so it would go to a diffrent direction?

would u say the graphics r at doom 3's level?

I have not played Doom 3, but The graphics on CS:S are awesome considering the fact that the maps are so open and not just hallways. Doom 3 can scrape by with good looking visuals because of the confined areas, but CS:S and the source engine do a beautiful job with graphics. On the highest settings with AA, it is one of the most amazing looking games yet...and the shader options are very limited because it is just a beta.

When you try to adjust the graphics options, it lets you adjust texture quality, model quality, resolution, shadow quality, and shader options are locked as of right now, so you get limited shader effects in the beta...full shader options will be made available in the final version. Judging by screenshots of D3, CS:S and the source engine are very close to the same level of graphic quality.

What about when you zoom in with the Sig Command, or the Aug? What does the crosshair look like?

I tried it on a smoke grenade but it didn't seem to work. maybe just my shots weren't accurate.

2 hours is not enough... I wanted more. Go for at least 3 hours :stare: .

The grenades are actual physical objects...so there is a good chance that you could do that if your reactions are fast enough...would have to be a bit of a "pop-fly" grenade if you know what I mean... ;)

haha...pop-fly grenade, hilarious. Love that baseball reference.

"I got it, I got it!" *waves off teammates* "oh...wait...."

Anyways, another question, can you still shoot your gun while you're blind? Even though you can't aim or hear..can you?

The zoom on the Sig and Aug is very cool. It's a smooth transition from normal to zoomed and the crosshair is the same size as the normal one. The zoom feels like it has been done right this time.

Yeah, you can still shoot the gun. The flash bang makes a realistic "pop" sound and your screen goes all white and blurry and you hear a ringing sound. Your vision slowly comes back and is blurry for a while...then it focuses. The grenades have a cool effect as well. When one goes off close to you, your vision changes briefly and you hear and loud ringing noise like raven shield.

Oh, and the explosion sounds are so real. The particle effects are some of the best I have ever seen. All physical objects act realistically to an explosion. When the C4 bomb goes off and there is a character near it, he flies for a while and hits the ground in a heap. The C4 has a great explosion effect and after the explosion, fire that looks like the fire from HL2 lights up any burnable objects in the area. Very, very cool. :)

Cool, it just seemed as if your gun lowers when your close enough to a flash bang it whites out your entire screen and you hear the ringing sound.

But I guess not :) Cool, thanks!

Also, another question, is there only one skin so far in CS:Source? I only saw Skin 1 for T and CT (Phoenix, and SEAL)

Yes, there are only SEALs and Phoenix Connection skins which are both very well skinned. The other skins will be added later. :)

I really want to see what Leet Skin looks like...

I wonder if they'll make the Sun Glasses have reflection in them like Oakleys?

"Hey Bob, I can see myself in your Sun Glasses!"

I don't know if that's possible.

That could happen...because they seem to have payed more attention to making P and W models look good. All of the models in the game are good looking.

Oh and there are tons of places to hide. You can make your own cover using the physical objects, or you can climb into some of the wrecked cars that are on the map and hide in there. Bullets will go through the car's metal. If you shoot a tire, it'll roll and wobble. When it loses speed, it goes in little circles and crashes to the ground sometimes doing that rolling motion that you get when you drop a quarter on a table. :)

just to make sure, shaders are effects like the scopes on some weapons in CS:S, the reflections on the floor, etc right?

Yep. All shader effects in HL2 will be in CS:Source. Most of the shaders are not yet included, so the game will look EVEN BETTER THAN IT DOES NOW! :O

funny you should ask that, i was playing cs source earlier on and some noob threw a nade on the floor right next to him, it blew up, he went flying back and died. roflmao

Did you feel like the hit detection was a lot better than previous counter-strike games? I heard the hit detection was near flawless.

Yes, it is near flawless. No more frustration of being right on target and still missing. It rules. I'm playing Regular CS right now and It sucks lol. :O

lol after i get beta(because i got cz) i will not sleep or eat

Alot of these videos I watch it seem like, these players are trying to play the game on too high of settings. In otherwords it looks like they are suffering from low fps. Was it smooth for your playing, I mean completly smooth, or did it suffer? BTW can you inform on the Vid card inside the computer?

'tis why I'm finishing anything remotely used with the word "work" before the 17th so I can play all day. Even though I hardly play CS:CZ, I'm sure CS:S will occupy me for hours. If it does, (and I'll make sure to say it) Valve succeeded in making an awesome port. :farmer:

It's because of the capturing program FRAPS, it almost halves your FPS. :sniper:

Still, I'd rather see half of them than none of them. :) Any news is good news.

The computer was a P4 3GHz with a 128 MB vid card. That's all the guy told me. It ran pretty well on high settings 1024x768.

Lol, GeForce 4 128MB, he felt bad because he didn't have a fancy card to spout off so he just told you the infamous, "oh, a 128MB card...yah..."
