They only had the Directors cut instead of the Theatrical version (I didn't see it in theaters). The movie had a few compelling scenes like when he yells at his father at the wedding party, or when his father talks with him before he gets assassinated. The movie had good intentions but was very unfocused and flawed.
-Irish army vs. the fake beard army??????!!!!! wtf was that all about
-horribly miscasted
-Badly done battle scenes because they were very boring and unexciting, so few of them too. I mean, he conquered the known world! Are you really only going to show me two battles?!?!
-Very badly edited. It just jumped back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. And just for the hell of it too, it didn't even serve to clarify the story. It almost seemed to deliberately confuse you.
-The music was just always out of place. Seriously, cheerful music during battle sequences? Come on.
