Just Saw HL2 TV Ad!!

Well i wos watching Sky Sports News ye and then i saw the HL2 logo come up on a black screen , and i swear i almost started shiTting bricks.

the ad is a HL2 lambada symbol on a black screen, then it fades away and a pic of the box on the left of the screen, and on the right is price, vat , release date etc etc

This is not made up! , i just saw it!
 
that sounds like a cool ad! i wonder if they will show it in sweden.
 
They should have made a professional trailer as well.

All that ad is going to do is excite people who already know about the game. A well done trailer such as Halo 2 or Doom 3 had, on the other hand, has the ability to excite people who have never heard of the game.
 
sounds like a shit ad if thats all it is.. seems like its more likely one done by some local store trying to sell it.

Lol beleive me , its quite exciting just seeing the HL2 lambada logo on your TV

Not to people that don't know what it is. Thus why it's a poor ad.
 
I didnt see like EB Games logo or anything, just Valve , VUG, it realy was just Logo then to Box+Valve logo+VUG logo and then ''Released Nov 16th''

It may of had the quote ''The most anticipated game of all time'' or something to that affect but i didnt see that, i wos still dazzled by the logo :D
 
It may be effective. Sometimes the low-key subtle ads have a better effect than the flashy in your face kind. Shows a confidence. As it to say. "yup this is the best PC game ever made. Heres the date. Try us out if you what , but hey whatever"
 
should just play the trailer on the website....bring in people who dont know about the game.
 
I like the ads where there are real people in "real world" doing things that would be done in the game, like Diablo 2 commerical, ratchet and Clank commercial. Funny stuff.

Though we never get game commercials here, or the great ones T_T

It may be a multi-stage advertisement. They'll initially just show the lamba symbol then move on to ads with more footage.....if the first post is true that is. It's the best kind of promotion i can think of.
 
Damn...I had sky sports on, but nipped upstairs for a crap ;( ;)
 
I think the aim of the advert is to just excite people that allready kinow about the game and to just slowly lure people that havent heard of it yet, or werent that interested in it to just check it out.
 
. . i bet it'll make people want to buy it. especially those who have no idea what that symbol represents [game wise].
 
I always thought the call of duty adverts where some of the best ive seen.

realy played the whole... you are only one part of the machine that is ww2 theme....

Dawn of war had some good ones as well, plenty of ingame footage and it was aired every time a programme whent to adverts and came back from them on sky one.

ive noticed that on sky one almost every tv series aside from the simpsons is sponsored by a pc game.... its been some low budjet game lately.... from digital jesters... moment of silence.

OFFTOPIC: i cant seem to find Prima Guide or RtB anywhere.
I called GAME and they said they wont sell them untill HL2 is released!
 
OMG! I've just seen it on Sky Sports 1 :)...pretty crappy ad if you ask me ;)
 
I saw it 2. But on MTV, awesome, i almost shit my pants!

Remove the lambda, add some short snippets of footage and you'll have a much better advert. San Andreas did it pretty well.
 
I think the Gman from psyche bink would be good, but also any footage of the gorgeous world city 17 is. They do have an official trailer on the website but they need to use some of that in the tv ads.
 
It's a pretty mediocre ad, but it's a good idea to put it on sky sports when the many footballing fans in Britain are watching soccer am :naughty:
 
Well at least they aren't going all "Touch me." like Nintendo.

Oh I don't know, an ad with Alyx flashing up saying 'Touch me' could be rather amusing.
