My map looks like its gonna take about a day to compile...even though ive put hint and skip brushes all over it and portalled off doors and windows (some portals still broken though)...i just wanted to check before i waste a whole day-is full compile guaranteed to eliminate lag and slowdown from the map? When i build it on fast vis its pretty laggy on the outside areas...
 
Fast Vis usually tends to be a stupid thing to judge your final version on.

The cordon tool is there for a reason. Cordon part of your map, compile it on max settings and see how it runs.
 
Already tried that, cordoning the map area doesnt work as it creates leaks with every portal due to there not being a skybox or land

It shouldn't create any leaks whatsoever... Did you put your playerspawn inside the cordon bounds?
 
Yeah, ill give it another bash ive changed a few things around
 
what is the dirrerence between the fast vis and normal
