I want to know from somenone who really KNOWS, what is the Minimum Graphics cards to play HL2?? Will my Geforce4 64mb do fine ? ? ? ?
Anyone please tell me, so i can upgrade now if neccesary.
Thanx

Minimum requirement is a TNT2.

Your card will do just fine.

Depends on how you want the game to look. Your card will play on only about medium graphics. Personally I would upgrade to a Direct X 9.0 Card. Otherwise your losing out on a lot of the graphics. I use to have that card.

A strait is a narrow channel of water joining two larger bodies.. unless you knew that and you were commenting purely on the typo in the title? Or.. did I miss something /me looks confused

Anyone CAN download DX9, however, cards have to fully support it.

The latest set of cards (Radeon 9xxx, GeForce FX) all fully support DX9. Previous generation were DX8, before that DX7, etc etc.

All Radeon 9xxx cards except 9000 and 9200.;)

Sorry, Shuzer, had to set things "straigt".:E

I'm in a rush so I'll get straigt to the point, Brian if you hang on a little longer and save up you should be able to get a AiW 9800SE, I've heard a few good things about them, and their cheap too, I might get one providing I can get confirmation DX9 works flawlessly on them

So if I get a 9800SE there's a chance I could turn it into something like a normal 9800?

Sweet.

With the softmod the performance will be about the same as the 9800 XT

sounds good :bounce:

I have searched a little.. apparently there are two types of cards :
1)
quote: The first version of the RADEON 9800 SE will be made on simplified 6-layer PCB and feature 128-bit memory bus for 128MB of DDR SDRAM. The RADEON 9800 SE graphics chip will have only four active rendering pipelines. ATI Technologies again simply disables half of the VPU’s pixel pipelines and probably end-users should have a chance to re-enable them using tweaks in drivers or simply by re-soldering some resistors on the chip.
2)
quote: The second version of the RADEON 9800 SE graphics card will be made on 8-layer PCB and will boast with 256-bit bus for 128MB of DDR SDRAM memory. The chip will also feature only four pipelines, however, this is not an obstacle for brave overclockers and modders, is it? After certain tweaks some lucky users will probably get a fully-functional RADEON 9800 from a lower-cost RADEON 9800 SE solution.

So only the 2nd one will work. I've read a few posts of guys who tried to softmod but failed, and they were able to install the 'normal' drivers, so it looks like the card survived it. But don't take my word on it, I've never tried something like this.

im just gettign an asus 9800xt for hl, i think ill get all out of the game,
