Just tried Far Cry

Hi all,

I just downloaded the demo of Far Cry to see how it plays. The graphics are pretty amazing, and I like it so far even though I get killed way too early on in the game. After I kill 4 guys, the 5th guy takes me down.

Is there a way I can stay alive longer? I know, I should be careful where I step, but what else can I do? Are there any short cuts I should know about?

I'm evaluating this game to see if I should buy it, but if I can't even finish the first level, then I don't know if I should. It looks very interesting though.

Just remember you don't need to kill everyone to get past. Find a spot that makes your detection meter drop and wait there until it completely empties then do whatever from there.

Keep moving and use your iron sights to focus and kill your enemies faster. Sprinting also helps.

Don't forget to scope out areas using your binoculars. That's key. That tags the mercs. so they show up on radar.

You have to take far cry slowly, it's not a run up and kill everyone game, becuase you'll get killed.

you have to sneak around, and than do 'suprise' attacks [quickly sprint in, kill 1-3 than get out of there and the 'sword' is strong so it works well].

it's damn fun.

I can't see how that's possible. Those trigens kill you in like 2 hits and they're fast enough to keep right on your tail so you can't escape.

EDIT: All this talk of Far Cry makes me want to play it again

Kill from a distance.
Always hide in shrubbery, it's like you just become invisible!
And I used the M4 on single shot mode 95% of the time, a headshot with that sucka aimed right is uber-lethal.

lol my friend takes the whole "stealth kill with the machete ninja woo!" thing way too far. Its hilarious. He'll climb a tree, wait for an enemy, then yell out "POUNCING TIGER" and jump down and hack away at the guy's back.

...yeah Far Cry's pretty cool.

In the demo (The Radar Dish Island one), take your boat from the start east along the shore (far enough out so the mercs don't see you, but not too far out so that they bring in attack choppers) and follow the coast/cliffs until you reach a small beach. Go up the small ridge and go west through the jungle (there should be one pig and one small crashed aircraft along the way). You'll eventually come across a gattling gun mounted on some concrete just out off the cliff face. Use it to shoot the mercs. Go into the hut and grab the P90, Armour and M4 from one of the fallen mercs along with (possibly) a grenade or two.

You should be set, but for referance, there's a flashlight and two flashbangs in entrance of the merc "cave" in the middle of the island, there is a silenced MP5 in the amoury stack in the merc cave (VERY useful for silent kills) and a Rocket Launcher by the enterance of the Radio Tower. Inside of the Radio Tower itself there's ammo and health + armour in case you want to kill the remaining mercs on the island ...

fc gameplay is so underrated,sure the trigens very nearly ruin it and the last lvls are ninja-bastard difficult but the lvls just against the mercs are gr8,stealtin is extremely satisfying i remember on the first night mission,the 1 where you have to get to the hydro-electric plant or sumit,i had got to the last part where i had to attempt to get in to the base,this was gr8,i managed to climb a hill directly across from the plant,below a patrol of about 10 mercs patrolled a large space in a circular motion.i managed to take out a few of the stragglers without alerting ne1,i then tagged every1 in and around the base before proceeding through a wooded section to the left of the base where there was a small op,i sneaked by that b4 silently plungin into the water around the plant ,i noticed a ladder to get into the base and then stealtily killin the engineer and getin his pda,that small part of 1 lvl took 30 mins to do,you could also attempt this in many other ways as there is a few routes leading to the base and i could also have gone in using a vehicle or sniped every1
