I might buy a New PC for my own use soon, hopefully,so i just wanna know, what type of graphics card and ram should i buy?or better still, give me an example of a good system that could run HL2 with no problems, money is a problem for me though, but do try to list a few stuffs that i could buy for my new PC...your help is grately appreciated....

If you want it for gaming (which you do), go with AMD Processors 200+
Get a decent Graphics card, ie. geforce 6, or ati radeon 9800 (or x800 $$$) 300+
Big monitor - 300
512+ ram- 150+
80+ gig drive - <100

amd aren't as fast, 3600 = like 2.8ghz, but they are much more powerful (they can get more done at a time), and they are much better for gaming.

I actually heard someone told that AMD was better for gaming, but he also said that the processors chip heats up faster and can probably burn the chip, then i will have to buy one more.and that person i was talking about was a person in a computer shop, where my bro bought the parts for the PC I am using now...

i hadn't heard that one... i'm running an amd chip, and have been for over 2 years, and mine hasn't burnt out. maybe if you overclock it it does burn out quicker.... but if you are going to get a good graphics card, then having an intel chip won't make a visible difference

its running all day (the comp)... sometimes i play css for up to 5 hours... (occational stops for me... but the comp keeps calculating the bots). I would worry about the chips burning out while gaming. they're designed to be worked. as long as you don't overclock it, it shouldn't burn out. and if it does, you can claim it on warranty

hmm ok,but problem is,maybe i might try to overclock,so that could be a BIG problem:S

make sure you ask some other people aswell. don't just ask me.

ok,sorry for bothering you

nononononono... ur not bothering me..... i'm on holidays... got nothing better to do than waste my life on forums... its actually quite fun. No, u weren't bothering me one bit.

Yes I too have a Athlon xp2600+ and have been using it for a couple years. My PC has been running none stop for almost a month recently and I have no probs :)

Also I would recommend whatever graphics card you do get make sure it's ATI and not nvidia :rolling:

I am currently using ASUS graphics card,is it ok?

We need more specs (GPU RAM, GPU bit rate, etc)

And if you can afford it - go 1 gig of ram (pc 3200 or more if possible). Ive heard many people say 512 to 1 gig is a huge jump in performance.

actually i have heard many people said that before,512 to 1 gig is a lot better,hhmmmm...how many slots would i need for that?i mean, how many slots do i posibly need on my mother board?
