When it was announced i really was turned off by it's surreal mystical aspect (fantasy beasts,...)

But while watching it was really immersing, and overall really added the feel for something that happened around 2500 years ago.

Although some parts were really cliche, but most of it was not overly predictable and intuitive.

Acting was mostly good and convincing.

What was really sad is that i studied history as major in "high school" and to top it of the Ancient era was my favorite. So i basically knew the whole plot with the end aswell. But nonetheless it was nicely "spiced up a bit".

This movie definitely goes in my best of all time movies list. Not bad for a movie i rejected seeing in the cinema.

oh and.............
THIS IS SPAAAAAAARTA!!!!!!

Really, truly a movie that's best seen on the bigscreen. Saw it again on DVD yesterday and, while it's still cool, it lacks the oomph it has in a cinema. Maybe if you can get your hands on an HD version with a decent screen, or a projector or something, with a kick-ass sound system. Till then, you've only seen half the movie :)

This is caketown!
BRUUSSSSSHHHHH YOOOOOUUUR TEEEEEEEETHHHHHHH :flame: :flame: :flame:

Sure, great movie. Best of the year? Sure. But as amazing as everyone seems to think it was...not so much IMO.

It was just action. Cool action, but not very original. AND WHY IS LEONITUS SCOTTISH?!

When I first saw it in a theater, it was fantastic. I think of it now as another action film. It's good, but it really needs to be seen on a big screen; otherwise it just lacks the impact and fury that it would, as Bad Hat said.

LOL, so I'm afraid, say, "Passion of the Christ" has also been spoiled for you? :P

I'm flexible. I can get immersed either way.

Yes i watched in HD on my 19" with headphones. I was a bit sweating at times...truly immersing experience this movie is.

Man, 300 was entertaining, but Sin City wins by a ****ing longgggg shot

I really didn't find the action in 300 satisfying at all. There were a few cool parts, but it was rare. I actually found the movie...well, boring. I was literally sitting there going "Jesus Christ, when is this going to end so I can make out with my girlfriend."

If wanting to do that instead of watching 300 makes me any less of a man than so be it.

@ ZT - Sin City is a good one, but I think 300 is better.

If watched as anything other than an action movie, 300 fails miserably.

I respect your opinion, but I don't see why everyone thinks that.

Sin City had a better story, 3 stories tied into one. More creative violence, more diverse and creative characters, more visually appealing, and many more hot ladies.

I watched for the big muscular men.

300 was ****ing kickass! I got it on HD DVD and watching it at home was a blast!

I agree with the extra power in the cinema.

Shit, makes me cry just thinking of the ****ing epic first battle with the Persians as they first hit the Spartan ranks.

I'll never relive that moment :(

Good movie - but the hype was more fun than the movie itself...

Missed it a the cinema. Can't be bothered to see it on DVD, through a small screen, without a mad crowd.

300 is good fun as popcorn flicks go. Ignore the silly plot and story and enjoy the slow motion limb removal.

"Just watched 300...WOW!"

I had the same reaction, I was like "Wow, what a crock of shit."

I laughed my ass off in the cinema. I think I was the only one there that did.

I endorse this opinion.

300 is 95% action...it should be taken as this.

if you want over the top exaggerating action and carnage, with heroic large scale melee battles...nothing beats it.

maybe braveheart is the only competitor, but it lacks the power.

I heavily disagree.

Much like Deus, I found most of the action in 300 to actually be quite boring. So it still fails if you just view it on its merits in action. Viewing every third execution in slow motion does not make something "pulse-pounding" or whatever. And for all the praise I heard it receive for its machismo and violence, I found it surprisingly tame. Yeah, there was blood. But it sort of floated off in whisps instead of coating the ground. It felt more like I was watching a video game in all its arcadey bloodshed instead of an epic, vicious battle.

So, no dice. It can't even get away with the excuse of being an action movie.

yeah, and I remember my cousin saying "it has the most graffic and real beheading I have ever seen.

So I was all excited, and I was just like "oh... thats... it?"

This man knows what he's talking about.

After hearing all the good rumours about this movie I was expecting to see a kick ass action movie, but what I got was a snore fest of "action" sequances interupted by even more boring "story" and dialogue. oh yeah and of course the cherry on the cake was the use of iritating filters and excessive CGI.

So to all those of you who liked this movie and think that those who hated it whatched it expecting a visceral experience, well you ARE WRONG! We expected a decent action movie nothing more nothing less, and this movie FAILED as an action movie. Oh yeah and Sin City mops the floor with this shit...

yeah i was cringing at some of the lines these guys were dropping.
I wasn't laughing at the lines. I was laughing when the collapsed the wall of dead bodies on top of the immortals and when the sky turned black with arrows.

I liked it, but I thought it was NOT worth all the hype it was given.
