i have finished and the end just blew me away and the first question in my head instead of what happened or is it over was "what the hell is the gman?"
Okay, want my HONEST opinion? The first and foremost thing that popped into my head was that he, is God. Don't worry, I'm not a religious nut, I'm actually a proud atheist. I just thought of this as I wondered, how does he have the power to do what he does, show you what he does, and besides all that, G man.......lol That was the one bit that threw me onto thinking the whole Gman = God trip wasn't completely too much to put past Valve. I dunno, maybe I'm just outta my mind as it is now 6:23 AM, and all my LAN party buds fell asleep hours ago, yet I am still here, finishing up hl2, and posting this. :rolling:
No he's not God. He doesn't have any special powers, he's not a super mutant or whatever... Here's a clue, remember when you come back from Nova Prospekt and Klein tells Alyx, that you've been away for one week? well I think that is exactly what happened between HL & HL², Gman simply teleported you to C17's location ten years ahead of time, sending you in the future with a slow teleportation process. Wait I'm confusing myself now, err.. okay at the end he doesn't exactly freeze time, he simply teleports you again right before the explosion hits you. At least that's I how see it, does that make any sense?
And the GMan couldn't really be a god if he makes you work for him or die, or atleast, he wouldn't be a good god. How could he be a god if he works for someone?
