apologies if this has come up before, but I didn't see it anywhere...
I bought HL2 the day it came out (the DVD edition). I installed it and registered the key. The registration failed half-way through. I was presented with a message that said my registration did not complete successfully, but that I could continue to play the game. So play I did.
The game stuttered like crazy, so I decided to stop playing and search the boards. The next morning I logged in again, but instead of running the game I was presented with an advertisement and information on how to purchase the game. Apparently, it no longer thought I owned the game. So I clicked on the button to register and am now being told that the key is already in use by another user.
I immediately searched the faqs on steampowered.com. I took a photo of my key, dvd, and box and emailed the photo + an explanation to the email address listed ([email protected] as well as [email protected]). I also tried reinstalling the game.
That was 6 weeks ago. 2 weeks ago, I sent the information again. I've still gotten no response.
Does anyone out there know what I can do to get some kind of response from these folks? $85 is a lot of money to pay for a drink coaster.
