Hello and good day to everybody! I would like to present a problem I am now having regarding my key bindings controlling movement. We all have our own preferences on how we like to setup our keyboards and mouse to control our character. I prefer to use the arrow keys to the left of the number pad on the keyboard for movement. I then bind the enter key to "sprint", shift key to "duck" and ctrl key to "jump". What happens now is whatever control I bind to the shift key also associates itself with the arrow keys. For example, if I bind "duck" to the shift key, when I press the up arrow key to move forward, I duck and move forward. If I bind "jump" to the shift key and press the up arrow key to move forward, I jump and move forward. This happens regardless of either shift key I use. If I do not bind anything to the shift key it works properly BUT I would really like to use the shift key.
What have I done to try and solve this problem? I have done a re-install of HL2 over the existing installation. That had no affect so I did a complete un-install and re-install and that had no affect as well. I did a "repair" of my os (XP) and it still had no affect. My next move is to do a complete uninstall of HL2 and a complete re-install of XP and then re-install HL2. I will do this unless there is somebody out there that may have a better idea of what the heck is going on.
I appreciate that you have read this post. If you have any ideas that you could pass on to me, I would sincerely appreciate it.
Thanks, take care and be safe.
