Though it's been out for about a month, it deserves more exposure. Synchestra showed that Townsend really knows how to make great albums, and Ki is proof of this. There is so much depth to his music that you'd need 4 ears to fully appreciate it. I believe Ki is also the first in a series of 4 albums that he is calling the Devin Townsend Project, so there's a lot more goodness on the way.

Remember to hit high quality on these vids, or they'll sound like shit:

Pretty sure there's a thread already on this but I'll say it again: I'm disappointed. I loved -- no, adored -- Synchestra but this does nothing for me.

He needs to get SYL back up and running and release another album like City.

It is a lot more subdued than Synchestra, but I'm really enjoying the jam-like vibe that a lot of the songs have. According to the wiki:

Over two years, Townsend wrote over 60 songs, and found that they fit into "four distinct styles". In March 2009, Townsend announced his plans for a four-album series called the Devin Townsend Project, with the goal of clarifying his musical identity and being "accountable" for the persona he projects to the public. Ki, the first album of the Devin Townsend Project, is written to "set the stage" for the subsequent albums.

Ki is probably the album that contains all of the ambient and bluesy music he created during this time. Perhaps one of the others will have a more metal based sound to it.
