wow! most awesome pieces of art i've seen in a while.

Really neat. I wish someone would do that with my sketches. They look so awesome in my head, but I have no drawing skill whatsoever...

And THIS is why he was banned folks.

Anyway, I guess this shows how unstylized children are. Looking at these redux', they're all just stylized versions of what were originally lines and colors.

I'm trying to figure out what MAKES them non-styled though... Can't put my finger on it.

kids' art is the best. They're so inventive and uninhibited. They don't try to include any references to anything else, it's just their vision. And the way they go about it, it's so even - they can't do one part of the artpiece better than some other part of it, which can happen with adult artists when they reach the limit of their talent and have been overly ambitious.

So really those redone works actually kind of ruin the originals. They don't know what exactly the kid had in mind when drawing their own art. The redone works look overdone.

I agree ..and he doesnt change his style/tone to accomodate the different styles of the different kids ..it's like he's saying .."ya ya I took this kids crappy art and look what I made!"

there's an interview on his site where he talks about eventually creating movies and video games based on his kids art ...he obviously doesnt care about the work the kids produce and just pimps his own stuff ...gimicky

I like it. It's appealing.

The entire time I was growing up, instead of doing my classwork, often I would draw pictures. Many times, it would just be a very simple monster or something. It would start as a scribble outline like some of those, like I was half paying attention, holding the pencil wrong and daydreaming, I was just drawing a single outline, going in random directions, eventually connecting it all. Then I would draw some realistic eyes and mouth. I might draw a realistic pair of ears, nostrils, and hair or spikes or something. These realistic looking features on this blob sometimes looked pretty cool, and I would continue to add texture and shading and detail to the drawing. I know some of you have done this.

Eventually it became fully detailed and shaded, very much like the images here, but in pencil. I don't know, some of them just turned out to be so killer looking, very much like the images here, although in grey-scale.

I think this would be a good book for kids, so they can see a simple outline like they draw, and see how to just keep carefully working on it, and add detail, you can come up with something much more.
