I loved the Kleiner speech in EP1, it inspired me to make my own pitiful addition to it. It's a little short, but here it is.
Kleiner Speech: “Primal Strength”
Well, citizens of City 17, it is time for me to make what will be a final urging to leave the confines of your urban entrapment and return to the environment that used to sustain the human populace. Do not fear this inevitable return to the unscathed Earth that has created us. It has given humanity a primal strength that has allowed our species to survive countless atrocities, and bounce back effected greatly, but also positively.
Instinct is indeed often unnecessary and many times has been perverted into baseless fear and tireless destruction, but at the same time it is also our saving grace, granting persistence and selfless acts of greatness through the subconscious urge for the survival and uplifting of the species. What we faced at the hands of Dr. Breen is an example of such perversion, but also an example of the selfless acts needed to attain continued existence for ourselves. I fear I risk the displeasure of my audience at the moment, but I felt it needed to be said. His cowardice, being a disgrace for mankind, was all the while the best form of submission for it allowed the wake of Gordon Freeman to come to pass, with much success I might add.
So, let it be said, that there is no single hero among us. It takes cooperation, which one could say is human synergy, yet it is a product of desperation for us all. Coming together will be all that saves humanity in the end, and if we can embrace our primal selves while emerging from the cocoon of instinctual distrust and petulance brought on by oppression, we will have ensured a greater existence for our successors, that is the only immortality we should strive for.
This has been Dr. Kleiner, formerly of Black Mesa, now a resident of the wilds surrounding the ever-decaying urbanity of City 17. I urge you to join me for your safety.
