known issue with XFX 6600GT and HL2?

Just replaced my 9800pro in my work rig with a 6600GT. I rad drivercleaner etc... The game loads to the point where youselect load new or saved game. If you select either the rig reboots.

Work rig is not oc'd at all. Sempron 2400, 8K3AE, 512 Kingston pc4000

Highly doubt that is it, as every other games runs perfectly. It is an Antec 400w, and with no oc's I cant see how that would be the problem.

Denfinatly not the Graphics card, i have the XFX 6600 Gt AGP version, and the game runs fine.......
The FPS could be a little better though, but it is my cpu that is my bottleneck, i have a 2.2 p4.. : (

Wouldn't be the psu seeing as other games are fine you said, plus it's an Antec 400w so you can rule that out. And I'm guessing he plugged it in right because again he said it works in other games. Driver conflict with the game? Not sure.

That might be the problem. I've heard that XFX makes no mention of it in their instuction booklet.

They do..with my XFX 6800 GT that is, dunno about the 6600.
