Konami announces Castlevania: Lords of Shadow

Looks it's being developed by acompany called Mercurysteam working closely with Kojima productions. It is a re-imagining of the series, and is not connected to any of the other games. It will also be on both the PS3 and 360, with a tentative release date of sometime in 2010. A trailer went along with it, which will probably be posted somewhere soon. Castlevania has always been a favorite series of mine, so I'm definitely interested. I wonder what happened to that SotN sequel that was talked about last year though. For now, here is the original teaser from last year:

Kojima is involved so im in. Plus Castlevania series has been good from what iv played.
 
I've always liked the Castlevania series, but I've yet to play a great 3D version. I think this could be it.
 
Previous 3d castlevania titles were complete shit-fest.

I need to see more gameplay clips to judge this.
 
I like castlevania even though I've not played much of it but I'll remain sceptical. The track list of the devs isn't great and kojima doesn't sound like he is that involved with the project. This wasn't even originally a castlevania title.

Although Patrick Stewart and Robert Carlyle **** YES!
 
Well, as long as they really get the right feel down with atmosphere and music...then maybe. I just dont know about a 3D Castlevania. They have all sucked. I have grown to completely LOVE the 2D ones...just about all of them. I WISH someone would get the bright idea that a 2D/3D HD SOTN-type game would be exactly what gamers all over the world are screaming for!! Ugh.
 
I just watched the trailer finally and I have to say, this is my most anticipated game in years. I have a feeling they might bring this to the PC too. If so, I'm definitely buying it, regardless of anything or any review.
 
I dunno. The combat looks directly taken from God of War, the story seems almost directly ripped from God of War, the rest is...well...just not Castlevania as it always has been to me.

I guess Bionic Commando: Rearmed has really ruined me. I need more companies to do EXACTLY what they did to that incredible 2D franchise.
 
I don't think we've seen the last of 2D castlevania games. Handhelds can now produce graphics, sounds and special effects that would make the early castlevania games jealous. Or they could just sell them as downloadable 'arcade' games.

Yeah, I started to get a little tired of the DS SOTN copycats towards the end there (though Order of Ecclesia was a bit of fresh air at least). I do hope someone makes a proper next-gen 2D/3D hybrid using the same SOTN formula. It's pure gold!! I really liked what they did with the PSP Castlevania that they just released though. Updating the old Chronicles with 3D graphics but with 2D gameplay. Just awesome--and with SOTN as an unlockable!!
 
Castlevania is Konami's biggest game, well at least it was until Metal Gear really took off, but I think Konami, now in a great financial position after the success of the Metal Gear series lately, is going to pull out all the stops to make this Castlevania game a spectacular extravaganza of awesome. And if you've watched the trailer (from last year mind you) I think you'd have to agree.

Why? Hes merely involved along with every other stinking project Konami unveiled, hes not the guaranteed stamp of quality that some think of
 
From the trailer it looks like Castlevania May Cry, though with some excellent voice work. This had better translate the overall game structure and progression to 3D like Metroid did with the jump to Metroid Prime. Otherwise it just isn't a Castlevania game, it's a spin-off.
 
you know Hank's girlfriend from the show Californication?? this woman...who was in Ronin and some other movies like fear dot com?? well apparently her voice is in the game and shes mad hot. I think shes in the new Neutrogena commercials too.

Natascha McElhone is her name, and shes a goddam milf. anyway i was just reading her wiki page and i guess her husband died while she was pregnant with her 3rd baby with him. sad story, he just collapsed on his front steps.

The only Castlevania I've ever played was the original NES game way back in the day. I always liked the atmosphere of that one. I can't get the gametrailers video to play but I'm interested to see how the atmosphere looks in a 3D game. I'm fairly skeptical, but we'll see.

Aw man, if you are comparing it to a NES game. Lol, wait to you see the Castlevania trailer! :bounce:

I can't wait for this game. I would pray for it to come to the PC if I thought it would work.
