LucasArts sent out a press release announcing that Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords for the PC has officially shipped and will slash its way into stores on February 10, 2005. The Sith Lords picks up five years after the events of the original KOTOR and features an all-new perilous storyline, as well as new characters, classes, locations and force powers. The PC version features high-resolution textures, optimized screen resolutions and a variety of other graphic card enhancements

I've heard that the PC version was shipped out with poor AI and numerous bugs. I'll probably wait anyways since I have yet to finish KOTOR I.

JamesPicard, where did you hear that?!

I took me exactly one year to finish kotor1 :p And have yet to start the dark side :)

torrent first then Il buy it Im kinda short of financial resources right now

Heh, not my place to comment but considering the usual reaction of this forum I wouldn't mention illegal versions, even if you do intend to get a legitimate copy at a later date.

You know, I genuinely thought this would be a discussion about the ships in KOTOR 2: The Sith Lords. Maybe their backstory, or the fact that resin figurines or whatever are now available. Now that would've been dull.

But yay! I thought it was going to turn up on the 11th according to previous estimates.

So this is just KOTR 1, but with a different setting/story? Doubt i'll buy it.

Meh, more of the same can be a good thing sometimes, least to certain people. The sequel's made by (parts of) the team responsible for such classics like Fallout or Torment, so I'm likely to give it a try despite the increasingly dated graphics.

But hell, I can still play the original Half-Life and it's plethora of mods and get a kick out of them. So nuts to you, graphic monkey!

*takes metaphor too far and proceeds to shoot graphic monkey out of the gameplay tree*

My buddy got the X-box version for Christmas, and because he sucks at third-person games he let me have a go at it. It wasn't as interesting as I thought it would be. I went three levels in and I used my actual character for a total of 30 minutes. The rest of the time, I've been controlling these boring maintanence bots. I played for three hours before I gave up on it.

I've never played the first one, but I don't think that matters as I've heard the gameplay is pretty much the same. So far, it's been: find the key, open the door, pick up this, turn on that; with only a few sparse combat sequences in-between. I guess the main problem is the fact that I feel my Jedi character isn't doing anything. All the work has been done by those damn bots.

I dont care what others say im not gonna buy a game without playing it first I bought the first one and if the 2nd one is good I buy it to I HAVE ALL STAR WARS TITLES FOR THE PC I BOUGHT THEM so I stuffed enough money in Mr Lucas ass

I'm going to wait for a review for this one.. #1 was alright, but it had no replay value for me, the areas were small and it seemed really linear, the only non linear thing about it was choosing force powers and dark/light side, but you still had to go to the same places, and do the same missions.

I don't know, but I LOVED the first one. I replayed it 3 times...
1st Time = lightside knowing nothing about all of the alt quests trees, good items, or story trees.
2nd Time = Darkside knowing nothing about all of the alt quests trees, good items, or story trees.
3rd Time = Lightside doing EVERYTHING there is to do
4th Time = Darkside doing EVERYTHING there is to do

I could probably play it again, but I have little time and so many games. I would be just as happy, and this is what I am expecting, what is essentially an expansion pack to KOTOR. I want more story, more of that great game that I know. The graphics/gameplay were awesome before, I don't mind if it's exactly the same now. In fact, I'd prefer it since I found it perfect the first time around. Maybe more items, but thats only because thats a given for any sequel/exp pack.

PC Gamer called the original KOTOR "Not only the best Star Wars game ever, but the Best Star Wars movie since ROTJ."

Something Awful, which usually gives negative scores, actually gave it a positve score!

I'm excited about KOTOR II.
