Well, I just finished it for the second time as a lightside scoundrel/sentinel, and it still hasn't lost his appeal! I'm off to start a new game as a grey explorer/sentinel right after I post this thread.

Anyways, so what did you people think about KOTOR?
Favorite parts?
Worst parts?
Favorite characters? (HK-47 all the way!:E)

Let me ask you this? Is Kotor worth buying (I'm guessing you're going to say yes here :p)? I've been debating over whether or not I should purchase it.

Wow this game seems to get nothing but positive reviews/comments, I'll probably pick it up once the price goes down..Im tired of paying 50 bucks a pop...

About how many hours of gameplay are in Kotor.

I just got past that bmfm, the Rancor i think?.

But right now I just figured out how to make Mafia run good without freezing so I have resumed playing that game since I havn't beaten it yet.

Plus I am designing some artwork that I may order a print to frame and hang as a poster in the new room we built downstairs.

So I won't be getting to Kotor anytime soon.

Yes, it very much is. It's longer than CoD+MaxP2 combined and more engrossing than most RPG's out there.
You may find it for $40 at Fry's if you're lucky. Simply put, it's one of the best PC Games to come out in a long while.

In my opinion every Star Wars game has sucked Since Jedi Knight 1 and 2. Jedi Outcast had a ****ing Flack Cannon in it ffs!

It seems like either people love it, or they hate it.

I'm a hater.

The game was NOT worth it for me, cause I like games that last... KOTOR didnt last. Sure, I've played through 3 times... But I did it in a week (each roughly 15-16 hours), and havent touched the game since.
Personally I think its RPG-lite-for-dummies with extremely static worlds and gauntlet style gameplay, not to mention worthless stores, repetitive worlds and incredibly stupid puzzles. Nice voice acting though, VERY high quality, there its probably one of the best games I know of.

I'm more of a book person, I like to read my adventure, to form my own opinion on moods and *imagine* stuff. KOTOR leaves nothing to imagination, everytime you play through you hear the same voices and see the same bodymovements, its more of an interactive movie.
I still play Morrowind, NWN (I especially like the HoTU dialogue style) and even drag up old BGII sometimes... The really sad part is that I only "bought" Morrowind and NWN but *bought* KOTOR.

liked the game, probably wont play it again.
i used jedi's the whole way through. Once i had 3 of em, i never went back to my other players. My droids were literally never used except when absolutely necessary.

yeah it's a top quality game, well worth every penny.

dawdler's got some good points, but i guess it's just personal preference. for me, i was just glad to play a star wars game that wasn't obivously console influenced. best star wars game ever (even beats tie-fighter).

Pff, nothing beats Tie Fighter!!! Gourad shading RUUUUUUUUULEEEEZZZZZZZ!!!!! :cheese:

You should play it again, if only to watch the characters in your party interact with eachother and the enviroment.

And ones gotta love HK-47's general comments! :E
"There is a 98% chance that this meatbag wants us to save his tribe"
-What's the other 2%?
"That he wants us to blast him, though that might just be wishful thinking on my part, master"

Did you do all the sub quests and general stuff?

I've played Morrowind for what, 2 years now (or is it 3?)? I played KOTOR for 1 week.

There you go :)
Its MUCH shorter than Morrowind, if you do say 50% of the quest. Racing both games through... If you *walk* through the Morrowind world and really visit stuff on the way, even if you only do the main quest, we are still talking 100+ hours, probably twice that. If you snail through KOTOR, and I do mean REALLY snail through it, maybe you can get up to 40 hours.
Its two completely different games really... Morrowind is a *WORLD*. KOTOR is a *LEVEL*.

Edit:
Did you do all the sub quests and general stuff?
Difficult setting, deliberatly a weakass character (and never wielding a lightsaber), doing about 80-90% of the quests. And I could STILL take on the entire Sith base on Manaan without loosing a single HP and doing it ALONE (last planet of course, if it was the first it would have been tricky).

Wow...If that's true, then you're very, very fast indeed!

Its not very hard really... I was always surprised when I looked at the KOTOR forum with "Cant get pass stone pillar!", "WTF! STUCK!?!" and all those... EVERY problem has a simple and speedy solution. I basicly did race through them... Cause I read the datapads :)
Take the "H" problem. Seen many posts about it. I cleared it as fast as you can walk... Cause I read the pad 10m from it.

And if you are a scoundrel/counsular, you can literally TEAR through enemies, no matter their strenght. I agree that its a *little* challenging on Dantoine (I have never managed to take down the last mandalorian, no matter the class combination), but once you pass that, its a breeze. Stasis Field. Dual blaster. You kill a Dark Jedi in 2-3 shots without being touched. Calo, Bandon, Jedi Masters, everyone go down the same way. Stasis Field. ZAPZAP. Dead.

Fun note: On the starship, first malak encounter took 3-4 seconds. Yep, you guessed it ;) Stasis Field. ZAPZAP. He flees (and I took him down to like 10% health!!!).
The second encounter took actually ZAPZAPZAP though, some poor damage rolls.

So did I:)

And yes, most of the 'problems' were pretty easy and went quick to finish, but there was so much more to the game; Genohardan Quests, Party-Member quests (especially liked Canderous 'quest':)), playing riddles with the mad ex-principal and getting Mission to hate her brother! Endless fun:E

how'd u even get malak in stasis field? i tried it 2 or 3 times, no go. none of my force powers ever worked on him, so i saved all my force for health regen.
game took me about 30 hours, and i took my time.

Well, you need pretty high Wisdom to get any force powers at all to work on Malak.
Try opening the fight with Force Breach, and then go on from there.

Tsss, and who needs force regen when you can use Drain Life? *Fuseds evil character cackles maniacly*

KoTOR disapointed me.
But not because it was bad, because it wasn't the masterpiece so many ppl aclaimed it.
I still play Diablo 2. I'm going to beat KoTOR in Dark (since I'm beating it in Light) and scrap it...

Yea diablo 2 is well cool. Shame my accounts have probably been deleted since my computers been broken for too long ..... ;(

4 things:
A) dawdler u r either a liar, very very fast at reading and clicking, or just generally sad.
B) i agree that everything in the game is easy- with ur first encounter with **you know who but no spoilers** i could have easily killed him.
C) The game is truly amazing and i feel that you must play the game a lot to appreciate it
D) SPOILER BELOW highlight to read
Who thought the strange box u r given on the sith world is really cool? thats so good when u speak to the alien in the prison and u have to do the riddles, then u go to the hutt and u r like: "no i DID open the box...."

***SPOILERS***

yeah i did that, but i sneakily saved the game in a seperate slot and tried it just in case anything bad happened. it reminded me of the hobbit, where bilbo asks gollum some riddles in order to find out what's in his pocket (the ring). still, works well in the game though.

***END SPOILER***

Have you ever checked the bioware KOTOR forum? I aint unique. Sometimes there are 6-7 pages just discussing how easy and how fast you can go through KOTOR.

Take good note of the location.

Of course I missed *something*, I already said that. Never managed to take down the last mandalorian on Dantooine. In all games I always tend to forget to get the droid recording back to the dealer on Kashyyk (they have usually left when I get back). And I dont think I ever got started with Canderous sidequest, I rarely use him... Never bothered with the shady character on Manaan.
I do everything on the way. As I also said earlier, that's 80+% of the quests due to the fact KOTOR is completely linear with the next quest always on the way. And note that this is actually taking time to play pazaak alot, finishing all swoop races, and doing the useless Yavin quest (since I never bought anything anyway, it was useless).

Sith box? I beat the game twice too. I almost cried when Malak gave the order to blow up Taris... Is it just me or is Malak easier to beat the Bandon?

Aye, Bandon was a tough one to down

Spoiler
Yeah, maybe it was because you were still a starting Jedi. What about the Sith Box?
End Spoiler
