Forumite Creates Thread With Over-Dramatic Title! After education controversy, multiple rebellions and sleaze scandals and now this, Hutton denies that the government is in 'meltdown', whatever Sulkdodds might claim.

BBC said:
Tony Blair's government is not in "meltdown" despite the triple whammy of controversies facing his Cabinet, minister John Hutton has said.
He rejected comparisons with John Major's final days after what has been called Mr Blair's "black Wednesday".

It saw nurses boo the health secretary, John Prescott admit to an affair and the home secretary face calls to quit.

Home Secretary Charles Clarke is resisting calls to resign over the release of 1,023 foreign prisoners who were meant to be considered for deportation. It has now emerged there could be 1,500 more foreigners in UK jails than previously thought.
BBC said:
Shadow home secretary David Davis and Liberal Democrat leader Sir Menzies Campbell said Mr Clarke had failed to protect the public.

Three murderers, nine rapists and five paedophiles were among the prisoners who were released and are now being urgently sought.

While I get a smug feeling of satisfaction at seeing things go wrong for New Labour, i'm a little concerned at the fact that the main beneficaries of this are going to be the Tories.

Maybe we might see an early handover of power to Brown?

Hmm, I don't think it's a coincidence that it's the 20th anniversary of Chernobyl...
