"A 17 year old boy shot in the thigh by a state trooper after he attempted to choke his grandmother was apparently in a rage because his grandmother had taken away his "violent games". As is usual with the mainstream and local media, the report in Today's THV links the violence to video games in the first paragraph yet offers no explanation for the boy's extreme reaction to his grandmother's ban. When normal kids have their games taken away, they usually don't attempt to kill the enforcer.

Wikipedia's entry on rage tells us that contributors to irritability can "include fatigue, hunger, being in pain, sexual frustration, recovery from an illness, or the use of certain drugs." We wouldn't be surprised to find one or more of these factors was a greater influence on the boy's behavior.

From my vantage point of the gun restricted UK, I'm shocked that the state trooper found himself with no choice other than to shoot the boy. With another fatal accident occurring only a few days earlier (a trooper shot and killed a mentally and physically handicapped man after mistaking him for a fugitive from Michigan) analysis of the trooper's actions shouldn't have been left to the single line: "the shooting is under investigation."

"Allen Gann was being held in the Crittenden County jail in Marion on a $50,000 bond after authorities charged him in circuit court as an adult with aggravated assault. He also faces juvenile charges.

Gann suffered a bullet wound in the right thigh after the trooper, Matt Roberson, shot him. The teenager was treated Sunday at Regional Medical Center in Memphis and released. The youth had thrown a hammer at the trooper and menaced him with an ax, authorities and Ganns grandmother said.

On Sunday, Allen Gann had sat down to play Resident Evil, a violent video game. He also enjoyed Smackdown Raw, a wrestling video game, and Midnight Club 2, a street-racing-simulation game, his grandmother said.

Georgia Gann said she grounded her grandson from playing the games the night before because he wouldn’t do his household chores. She said that triggered a violent episode that included the teenager choking her and threatening the trooper."

k? :p

from my point i would do the same as the cop! IF negotiations fail!
handling an 17 year old kid it's not that easy, especialy if he has an axe in his hands! shooting him in the leg is one of the safest choices!

my neigbour is almost 16 and hes big and stronger than most 22 year old! altough he's not the most brightest he can still pose a deadly threat! but 17 year old usually don't kill over such things unless being mentaly disturbed!
maybe his grandmother was a total bitch, that keept annoying him since he learned to walk? possibilities are almost countless!

doesnt matter if she's cruela deville/ann coulter ..still didnt deserve to die cuz some disturbed punk thinks he has the right to do whatever the **** he pleases in his grandmother's house

were that my son ..I'm non violent but I would never tolerate behaviour like that. In my experience as a former teacher kids dont one day out of the blue decide to strangle their grandmother ..no he's probably had problems for years

Jesus, I'd f*cking shoot him in the leg too.

Screw that, I would be going for the heart.

taking away a gamers games is like taking away Bushs nukes...war will break loose!

Hell, if someone turns of my computer while im playing, or takes my games away...i will turn my head 180 Degress without my body moving, looking at the person...and become a T-1000 Liquid metal Terminator.

Hahaha

I'm sorry, I know this is a serious story, and it has a negative outlook for gamers, but just the story overall is hillarious looking at it from a distanced perspective.

obviously he's got mental problems, or uses some kind of drug.

I would have shot him 4 times, once in each extremity. Then used a baseball bat on his groin. Then gouged his eyes out. Then plucked his teeth out one by one. Then smashed his fingers with a sledgehammer, and finally crushed his mutilated body under a steamroller.
Any questions?

I eat the person's arm off if they try and take my video games. They learn after the first time.

Oddly, if I am playing a game (any game, doesn't have to be violent) and I have to go somewhere or do work...I get pissed. I can easily relate to that guy, but I wouldn't start strangling family members.

it takez more than a game for sum brotha to pull off this sheeyat.

are you his brother? or twin?

I would have hit him with the gun in the back of the head, then shot him in the groin. After that, drag him 100kms with him hanging by a rope from a car.

Impeity is the worst of all crimes.

I'd shoot him in the leg for getting pissed over a console game, buy a PC ffs

Video games don't cause violence, stupidity causes violence.

This kid had all sorts of stupid.

Whats with the stupid "I'd punish him more violently than you would" little contest that goes on in these kind of threads?
