lag has gone up

anyone else noticed the lag getting worse since this last update? been playing for a couple of hours and noticed that all servers have gone well laggy. is it just me or the new update?

I got a lot of lag too on hl2 dm... like gettin 30 fps when i used to get 90... they screwed sumething i think. :|

I am getting very strange lag spikes. where my ping steadily varies from 60 to 600, very annoying, and makes the game pretty much unplayable

It's probably because Steam is updating in the background. I was playing the game, it lagged and then I looked in Steam Monitor and it said CS:S is 98% downloaded. Now, since it's not downloading anymore, it's OK for me.

As I recently purchased another GB of memory to add to my 512MB I already had, I experience no lag at all, ever.
