Thought this would fit in the Politics subforum :

I think most of you guys have gone to a LAN-party at least once. You probably had a lot of fun there. Now, how would you react if suddenly, a ****ing police razzia storms in the room, confiscates everything and will probably never return it to you? That's what has happened here in Belgium, on a small LAN (I wasn't there luckily). One guy just took his comp and smashed it on the floor. Others started fighting. How would you feel and react? Do you even agree with the ethical aspects of LAN parties? Does the police have the right to just confiscate your computer? If someone would touch my computer, I'd ****ing break their neck, seriously. My computer = Holy.

Share your thoughts.

What the ****?

How exactly are LAN parties illegal?

You haven't gone to one? Well, they're quite infested with not so very paid stuff :p

Still, LAN parties are for fun, and no money is made from it (Well, maybe from the game competitions)

I've been to loads of LAN parties...but that seems totally ridiculous for the police to just assume that people are using pirated software. Last time I lanned, there was no pirating at all (although it was only 6 or 7 people).

Well, I'm sure the police will have more information to go on. The fact that one guy smashed up his computer is an indication of that.

Throwing your computer on the floor probably wouldn't erase the evidence on your hard drive, you'd have to remove it and set it on fire or put a magnet to it or something.
