LAN without internet?

Me and some mates are heading up to a beach house for a LAN/piss-up this weekend. Unfortunately where we are going does not have internet access. Is it possible for us to play CS:S beta without having to log onto Steam?

There is a Offline mode and i think you could then play single player with no one in server?

Yeah but I can't open Steam without being connected to the internet, and I don't know how to launch CS:S without Steam open.

right click on the game and make sure "make this playable offline" is checked

steam will automatically go into offline mode if no internet connection can be made (it will attempt to connect, but if it fails it goes into offline mode)

and yeah the lan thing will work, but each guy has to have a different account.

Erm, if I try to open Steam when I'm offline it just says "Updating Steam" with a progress bar and sits at zero indefinately.

thats because you must have exited and logged off last time you played steam...now you will have to log back onto steam.

When I was at my flat last week I was able to start a lan server and I was definately far away from a net connexion

There was no one to join so it didn't really matter in the end, but it can be done.
