I am in the hunt for a laptop. I was wondering a few things. How easy is it to be wirelessly connected to the internet, and as far as it goes, can you be connected anywhere? How much is internet acess? I was going to use the laptop for video editing, music, and that kind of stuff. Do I go Mac? Thanks.

You need to be near a wireless hotspot to be able to connect.
Google warchalking to know how you can connect to a lot of hotspots around a city, even if the owner of the hotspot doesn't know.

nothing's wrong with a mac. If you could wait for a laptop i would wait for a intel-chipped mac. personally i can't wait(i have to have one for med school starting in Aug) for one and i'll just get a pc laptop instead.

but then again, nothing is right with a mac, too :P

I wouldn't buy a mac for gaming lol, media and editting yes, but gaming no. I own a Toshiba Satellite A70 laptop and I <3 it but you'd have to shop around and find one that suits your needs in terms of hard drive size, amount of RAM, CPU type and speed, etc. Basically all laptops come with wireless network cards now so you should be good there but in terms of internet access, you'd either have to get set up with a wireless ISP or get a wireless router for your ADSL or cable.

Macs are good for everything but gaming. Yet normal laptops don't allow you such immense programs as Garage Band - Possibly _the_ best audio editing suite ever. I'm not sure about video editing, but you have windows Media player for that.

So which do you prefer? Games or Audio editing?

And yes, Macs are pretty :E

Yeah, Macs are pretty..........pretty lame!

Seriously though, they're fine if you don't plan on using it for games.

Yeah I heard they did all the editing for LOTR on media player :p

I want a wireless network, anyone got any sites with information they could show me please? :E

I have a wireless network back home, over rated tbh. You'll be playing then someone else makes your ping rocket up and ruin your game. Its sucky. But if you wanna get one go through bt broadband wireless programme stuff. i got a router and some pci cards, stuck them in the pcs, configured some stuff, awesome, sorted. Until it worked :P

juts google warchalking, so you don't need to use buy your won wireless router or even subscribe to an ISP, for me it is easy, at uni we have lots of hotspots.

Yes, but I'd rather have a reliable connection 24/7 that doesn't involve me moving out of my chair to do some research for work that has to be in the next day.

Anyway, did some research tonight and I pretty much know what I'm looking for.
