Laptops and the future

So I plan on getting a laptop soon for my university work and browsing the Internet. But I was wondering if getting one now would be a good idea and not roughly in 4-6 months time?

I'm asking because I know nothing of whats happening on the laptop front in regards to new chipsets/CPUs/GPUs etc

So would it be good to wait for something and then go for it? Or get one now from dell or somewhere?

I believe Asus exclusively have the Geforec 9 mobile cards currently, not sure about ATI.
