I'm having a hard time deciding whether or not to get a PC or a laptop for college. I'd like to have a computer good enough for gaming (and that isnt so bad it will be outdated in a year) I'm not a very hardcore gamer, I don't if I can't play games all on high graphics or anything.

How much of an advantage is having a laptop compared to a PC during college?

Where should I look for laptops? I would be getting parts off newegg for the PC, but should I be looking elsewhere for laptops?

If you can shell out the dough, buy a voodoo laptop. Those are fairly good gaming machines, as far as laptops go.

But for gaming, laptops will always be at a disadvantage. But I would assume you'd be at an advantage having one in college. Not to mention the chicks will dig the Voodoo red shell.

Get a laptop. You'll have better things to do than play games. Spend your free time in the student union, with your mates.

Apples are good - it's wise to get some experience with unix-like systems early if you're doing a computing degree.

depends on what you're doing at college. I'm taking an IT course and we mainly use the PC's at school but sometimes it's handy to be able to bring a PC to school. My dad bought me a nice Toshiba Satellite A70 for college but I just use it for counter-strike and personal use and school work here and there lol
