Las Vegas mayor Oscar Goodman is taking exception to the setting of another Tom Clancy game, Ubisoft's upcoming Rainbow Six Vegas. According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Goodman has an issue with the game's plot, which sees terrorists taking over a swanky casino on the city's Strip and seizing a number of hostages.

Goodman reportedly said the game was "based on a false premise," adding he has been repeatedly told by government officials that Las Vegas is "the safest place imaginable" when it comes to terrorist attacks. The mayor also said he'll look into whether or not the city can prevent the game from being released. "It could be harmful economically, and it may be something that's not entitled to free speech [protection]," Goodman is quoted as saying.

I guess he's never seen Casino or Leaving Las Vegas or Bugsy or Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

Or "Con Air" or "Diamonds are Forever" or GTA III: San Andreas or that crazy arcade rifle shooting game #25443

Does he not realize the game could actually increase business? What a dumbf*ck.

That's funny, because China boycotted C&C Generals since having terrorists within China's borders was "based on a false premise" also.

Touchy touchy touchy. These poeple ought to relax just a tad for once in their tight-assed lives.

Still, I can almost see his point from a PR standpoint, but still, all the movies you guys have already mentioned make boycotting a fargin game really idiotic.

This is good news to me! Since nothing will come of this except for the mayor complaining...

It seems to me that the gaming industry is finally being accepted as a major form of entertainment, and not just by gamers. If he feels this game can harm him more than all those movies could, then I feel I picked the right industry to make a career in. w00t

Reminds me of all the people upset about The Da Vinci Code. No shit its based on a false premise, its fiction buddy.

From the dictionary:

fiction - The act of inventing such a creation or pretense

On the contrary, gaming is being made the scapegoat for everything that's wrong with society today.

It puts Vegas in a positive light though doesn't it. They ****ing get like the most advanced team ASAP.

I'm sure if terrorists came to Golden Valley, AZ it'd be a while before that shit showed up. LOL.
