Following team restructuring, the production of our third alpha build - 0.0.3, and the fact that we wish to speed up development, the Black Mesa: Source team is looking for one final level designer applicant, in addition to the previous applicant positions of character modeller and skinners. Black Mesa: Source is an ambitious modification which aims to recreate the Half-Life 1 experience in the Source engine, utilizing the new capabilities it offers us. Level designer applicants must have, at the bare minimum, one year of experience with the Valve Hammer Editor and either the Half-Life or Source engines, in addition to a knowledge of lighting, entity placement and setups and all other aspects of production which are generally covered by the level designer. Skills with textures, prop models, or any other areas of development are a big plus, as well as those who are experienced with Half-Life 1 settings or lab environments.

All level designer applicants must attach either a link to a portfolio or provide example work - All applications without example work will be rejected. Level Designer applicants should send their applications to RabidMonkey at [email protected]. For more information about Black Mesa: Source, a highly anticipated Half-Life 2 modification, feel free to visit our website, or stop by our IRC channel.

We look forward to seeing your name on the applicant list!

Sincerely,
RabidMonkey and the Black Mesa Source team.
What are you waiting for?

I havn't applied because my ability of level design isn't as good as the awsome stuff you guys have produced.

Which map sections are you missing? Is it DM stuff or SP sections, because I though you had the SP stuff covered.

P.S. Will there be optional hardcore co-op sections where you can play as Barney and help Gordon past the enemy hordes, or have you resigned against making a Gordon model?

Anolomous Materials and Unforseen conciquences I think.
BTW, I'm not actualy part of the team.

why's it the last chance? are they planning to close down soon or something

;)

Because they have a dedicated team that is working fine and they have filled and are happy with all the other spots and don't count on the need for more members. <-- long sentence.

well i was just joking tbh :) just seems odd to me that it's "the last chance to join". And by that i mean what if staff leave in the future, no matter how well you work in the team, random bad stuff happens which can stop people working, or what if the post advertised isn't filled :) surely another chance to join will appear :D

i just don't like advertising that is poorly thought out, or tries to make something sound like it's the next big thing or you miss out, well that last one is kinda what advertisements are, i know, but there's a difference between good advertising and a copy and paste job followed by a n00bish "omg were great" type statement. It just looks better, and more inviting, to have the personal touch to a recruitment post.

Job descriptions and other recruitment details = We need good developers

Quick Copy + Paste Recruitment Spam = We can't find anyone, so we'll spam until we find anyone half decent

:) but um yeah... i was joking :D

Doubt it'll be the last chance, we're always on the lookout for new talent.
