Latest Oblivion Q&A (LONG)...

Expectations breed naught but dissapointment. That said, mine are pretty high! :O

Hmmm not bad but some answers are very dissapointing.

Little extras like hearing rain and thunder from inside buildings were modded into Morrowind with ease and greatly exhanced the experience.
I'm sure Beth could have put stuff like that in without much effort.

downloadable mods that you pay for ...not liking that idea all that much

the only things that really disappointed me is the restrictions on modding - that's very troubling to me, especially since Morrowind grew better over time with all the mods

Shadow-warrior, indeed, and it's also little details like that which REALLY add to the immersion imo..
Oh by the way, how is it, can you look out the windows in buildings and see the street?
I remember in the beginning they said you could but what with them later changing buildings to being seperate cells I guess not..:(

There's a lot of evasive answers in there, and a lot of typical stupid questions that always seem to make it through the selection process of fan interviews.

In certain factions, you will meet what we term “continuing characters.” These are characters who you will come into contact with at several different points throughout the questline

That actually sounds interesting.

Will adventurous NPCs *claim* the loot from a dungeon before I get there to explore it?
No, we set them up so that they don’t process while you’re not in the cell to avoid just that situation. While it might be realistic that they’d clean out a dungeon before you’d have a chance, I don’t think that’s in any way fun.

Bleh. I get far more satisfaction from coming back later and seeing the dungeon emptied than coming back and seeing the same guys in the same place, like the static robots they are.

The persuasion minigame is very different from what was shown at E3. It plays much more like a game now.[...]
As you highlight in turn the Admire, Boast, Joke, and Coerce quadrants, the person 's face shows his reaction to each of the actions. For each of the four actions, he will Love one, Like one, Dislike one, and Hate one. Don't take too long, because the person 's disposition is steadily falling. The person 's disposition goes up when you select a Loved or Liked action and goes down when you select a Disliked or Hated action.

Well that system gets a resounding "LAWL" from me. Arcade minigames? Do we get to play space invaders when we haggle for stuff? This is the most retarded Oblivion feature yet. Yes, worse than axes being blunt weapons. Worse than horses being only for riding not for fighting. On a scale of 1 to "Really dumbed down for stupid retards" this one scores so high the meter explodes.

The "will the game run better on faster pcs" questions are lovely too, but I think I've quoted enough for today.

Yes my fears for the game is that it will be dumbed down too much to cater to the dumber console audience. Like what happened with thief 3 and deus ex 2. Also another thing Ive heard about this game thats dumbed down for the retards is that there is some transit system you can use (i.e. click on the map to go to the spot), instead of actually exploring the world you're just jumping around to just the main spots...so dumb

If they are top notch professional mods and you pay just a few bucks I won't mind.

However $50 for a few extra hours of game play = round house kick to their face.

Yes, it is extremely upsetting that this is being developed for the PC and X360 at the same time, since it's very obvious they made concessions to the console side of it. Though, this teleportation thing might be nice, because as fun as it was to explore, sometimes it would have been nice to be able to get to a point quickly.

Well as long as the explorers can still explore the lands and collect stuff (like specific flowers for a quest for example). I'm just wondering about this mini-game bs, seems to consoley. But I can't say Im disappointed with the FAQ answers, no one can expect a dream game with 100% perfect everything.

if there's any cutesy characters I'm immediately decapitating them ..stupid hobbits

Can you shoot an arrow into someone and have it stick inside there flesh??? (innocent people)

He says in one of the videos that the arows will act properly depending on what surface it is.

If thats the case this game is going to be AWSOME!!!

Hahaha! If it doesn't kill them then I suppose this will happen. I'd like to see them try to pull a non-lethal one out!

I don't think they're dumbing it down for just console users, I think they're dumbing it down to make it accessible to stupid people in general(Which let be honest, there're tons of in BOTH the PC and console gaming communities).

It's sad to see this, I mean, aside from the loading times, the XB version of Morrowind was totally ok, they didn't dumb it down or anything and it released only.. what? A month later than the PC vers..
And also, worth noting, this fast travel system ain't something completely new to the Elder Scrolls series, infact, Elder Scrolls 2 Daggerfall had it, so don't complain that it's the console gamers fault.:p

Also, sorta off-topic, I'm sick of people blaming the console itself for dumbing down the games, the console doesn't magically decide to dumb down games, it's the DEVELOPERS that do.

Why is the new speechcraft system considered 'dumbed down'? They are adding new things to the skill, making it more complex. The speechcraft skill in Morrowind was a number on the stats page and a dice-roll. Ooh, great fun.

This game is so close I can freakin' smell it.

heh, same goes for the Bosmer - their whiney Noo Yoik accents earn them the right to an arrow in the groin.

I'm worried about the speach. I just have this feeling, you'll have some pie chart come up with various coloured araes and when you move the curser to each area, the persons face will pull silly faces to show their emotion before you've even said anything. If its like that it'll really tick me off, it completely ruins the immersion.

Erm, I have a feeling its like that too. Didn't one of the old vids show that very thing happening during dialogue with some woman inside a building? I am not a fan of this either...hopefully it has been tweaked for the RC!

I believe it IS like that, and whats worse you have to choose fast because its on a timer.

I heard that there is supposed to be some kind of annoying DRM protection on the official mods. I probably wont buy them anyways, since other mods will probably be better anyways. So long as Bethesda doesnt forbid people to make mods that are like their official ones.

Did I just read that thrown objects can't harm enemies? Lame idea.

hahaha that would have been cool

.....killing enemyes with a fork :D
