Starring Gerard Butler and due out 10/16, this trailer for Law Abiding Citizen hits all the right notes: it’s a thriller about a man who becomes a sociopath after the murder of his entire family.

looks really good, i hope they try to keep it real with the violence. as in making sense of it, not just blowing up cars for eye candy.

Looks pretty awesome. Not that the story is original, but still I'll probably enjoy it.

This is pretty cool, actually. "It's going to be biblical!" Great line.

But isn't this one of those broken aesops? Like, the moral of the story is "never allow a miscarriage of justice to happen...to a supersmart spy agent bastard who could kill you".

EDIT: On random speculation of this movie's politics, this is hilarious. Because it seems like the message is one of hubris and nemesis: the hubris of a big bureaucratic government system, the nemesis that an ordinary citizen can become. A conservative movie for the Obama era. But when you actually look at it, instead of saying "hey, government - don't **** with the little guy" the film says "hey, government - don't **** with people who have powerful connections or who can ruin you". That little twisty piece of hypocrisy just about sums up the Republican political project, don't you think? Blatant abusive powermongering disguised as concern for the citizen. Nice.
