Lead and Gold: Gangs of the Wild West

Game looks pretty cool. Trapper looks awesome. Game's only $14 too, although I wonder how many people are going to pick this up even at that price.

That looks good fun. I'd rather first person, but will still pick this up.

Looks alright.

Like Warbie, I would've much preferred an FPS... looks too Gears of Warsy for my taste.

I was looking at this the other day. It seems like something else. Reminds me of a standard HL2 mod but it costs money. I might pick it up when it goes on sale whenever that will be.

It's £8 you tight bastard :)

These small developers need our support. Infact, anything that isn't set in a MW type setting needs our support!

I saw on the official forums that there seems to be a bug that means the player can't change their graphic settings, heh.

Anyway, shame there's no free demo, not sure whether I wanna get this or not.

Well I don't want to spend eight fancy L's with a line though them for something I don't know much about or could potentially suck. I do like small developers but they can suck just as much as your big developers.

I have a vauge memory of some valve game with a western multiplayer setting. Maybe it was a mod for cs or something but it was pretty fun.

You don't have to rush to buy it. I Am just bringing it to your guys' attention.
I Am resistant to buy it myself but it does look interesting.

I gotta agree though. A demo or an open beta wouldn't have hurt.

Looks like a huge tf2 copycat to me.

And if it isn't, then neither is that one korean game everyone said was a ripoff.

Oh, that Korean game is a definite rip off. Replace the Anime models with TF2's and it's pretty much the same game.

This game is hardly a copy cat though.
If this ripped anything off, it's the visuals and the fun themed gameplay.
That's the only reason why i compared the two.

Yeah dude, when I was watching the trailer I was like, "What the hell is this bullshit? Class-based multiplayer? Ripoff. There's a sniper class? Ripoff. That guy has explosives? Ripoff. It's got different game modes? Oh come on, like we don't know what game invented ALL those things."

I especially hate how it blatantly copied TF2's 3rd-person perspective and Wild West theme. The nerve of these developers, have they no shame?

The commentary towards the end was great.

"IN YOUR MIND."

"Oh fuck, King of the Hill's on."

Anyone else playing the beta?

So far I really like it. The classes are varied and, apart from the hunter lady who's a bit rubbish, all offer something unique. The action's fast and tense and plays like an odd combination of Gears of War, rtcw and TF. It works, and the mechanics/objectives lend themselves to interesting situations. On one map we had a chain gang throwing gold sacks from a bank we'd just raided to the escape point - all while fending off the other team. On another, one of us was holding back and looking after the spawn flag - when carrying it you become a mobile spawn point - while spotting/highlighting the enemy with their special skill. This kept us all spawning close to the objective and let us know where the defenders were hiding. There's lots of options and messing around with all the things you can do is great fun. However, despite all this good stuff there is one major drawback that could spoil it - there are no dedicated servers and playing in a public match soon becomes laggy. This isn't as bad as it sounds as the game is suited to small teams that peer to peer can handle - I wouldn't want to play more than 4 vs 4 - but in the beta you can't set a player limit on open games and the server soon fills up. If you have enough friends with the game this isn't a problem as you can set up a private match.

Lead and Gold has plenty of potential and could be excellentif the final game sorts out matchmaking and options for setting up games.

I Am tempted to get it but i'll wait till they add dedicated servers.

picked it up for $5 today!

they've got dedis too now fyi

This game sucks in all honesty.

Has no Western feeling to it at all, Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood is superior in every way.
This game just feels wrong, not to mention that there's almost no content at all.

lol What are you on about? The western feel is there.

Why even compare it to that game? They have nothing really in common apart from the western setting. If anything, this game is the cowboy version of TF 2 and it's a lot fun.

Judge for yourself, people, instead of listening to groundless rants.

Yeah, if you feel like wasting money on a game that's going to be dead in a month then by all means.
And if you have a rig that meets the minimum requirements and hope that you can tweak graphics settings to make it playable then don't bother as there are none to be seen.

worth a look at $5
but don't expect anything groundbreaking . . .
