My favourite gaming site, Eurogamer.net has posted a two page hands-on preview of Left 4 Dead 2. The article goes into the detail of their play experience, including several comments from the Valve team:
Project lead Chet Faliszek tells me the axe can be used to one-hit kill a Witch, if you can successfully sneak up behind her. And it's likely there'll be a dedicated Achievement for that. "If you did that with a frying pan, you're going to have a bad experience," he adds, grinning.
Head on over to Eurogamer for the full article.

The 'gauntlet gameplay' example - which is to say, the bridge run to the chopper - sounds positively excellent, and very much the shake-up of the rather shallow scenarios seen in L4D. This has indeed perked my interest considerably.

I can't believe this but, I... I actually agree with Samon.
My interest has been piqued, the game sounds like a blast... much more so than the first one which just seemed very aimless and was just overall very boring.

THIS IS STUPID AND THEY PROMISED FREE NEW CONTENT AND I DONT CARE ABOUT MISSISSIPPI RAARGH RAAGH BOYCOTT THIS GAME VALVE WILL BE SO PWNED

Okay, now that's out of the way, anyone trolling this thread pro-boycott will be dealt with harshly. Feel free to voice negative opinions about this article but tread carefully. Incendiary ammunition sounds awesome, so does the fire axe (although I can't help but feel like it'll feel EXACTLY like the pyro's axe), and frankly I'm looking forward to daylight levels.

I have to agree the new finales sound great, the sit-and-defend moments still have their place in Survival, but after the 5 map campaign they felt disjointed, so this new run and gun idea sounds great.

The only thing I'm skeptic about is the chainsaw, which we've yet to see anything off. Everything else, especially the new finale, looks awesome.

Incendiary ammunition is the only thing I am having a problem with.

Yes, 'oopa! God I love watching your dev videos, you have such a soothing accent.

It's bloody hard. I don't know what difficulty it was set to, but I didn't see a single group reach the chopper all afternoon. But what a rush.

Pfft, having seen the quality shown in most of the L4D videos from journalists it's probably still on normal, rather than easy ;)

Gauntlets do sound pretty cool, but I'd die every time. :p

All sounds very interesting. I would like to see how they do the chainsaw, I think it would be tacky if it was went up and down and the zombies just fell apart, they need to give it the feel of actually cutting through something (I guess kinda like Gears of War style)
I love the “Gauntlet” idea ‘cause I hate people who shout at me because I don’t wanna hug a wall when an event has started waiting for the horde to stop coming. I want to run, it’s fun and intense. I think there are a few areas in the original L4D where they could use this idea for example 2nd chapter of Blood Harvest where you have to go through the door where the alarm goes off, instead of people just huddling in a corner and waiting for the horde to stop they could set it so they just keep coming forcing people to keep moving.
