Updates to Left 4 Dead Demo and Steam have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The specific changes include:[br]
[br]
Left 4 Dead Demo
  • Added the ability to tie game servers to Steam Community groups. Group administrators
can now see the GroupID on the group's administrative page, which can be used
as the value for sv_steamgroup. Users that are in that group will then be able
to browse directly to them from the main menu
  • Fixed setinfo exploit
  • Fixed a crash when exiting the game
  • Fixed a few cases where the game would crash when using ALT-TAB
  • Fixed a problem that could cause texture corruption on some ATI video cards
  • Fixed a bug that could cause infected horde to disappear
Half-Life 1 Engine
  • Fixed crash caused by specially crafted connect string
Steam Client
  • Improved GFW integration for titles that support it

Half-Life 1 Engine? Kudos to them for staying on top of that.

I wonder what the improved GFW integration is... GFW is going to be Valve's main competitor very soon, from whats being said by Microsoft.

I wonder what the improved GFW integration is.

They pushed out some updates to GFW this week, so maybe they had to adjust things for the GFW games currently on steam.

Will the L4D community server feature be spread across other source games?

Certainly future games, maybe TF2, possible CS:S. I doubt anything else will get it...

On an unrelated note: I've realised that L4D is much faster to get in-game than other Source based games. It can take minutes sometimes to get into a TF2 game. It's also faster to get to the menu. This is obviously a good thing, and I'd like it if that was back-ported to other Source games.

I wasn't asking for an opinion, I was asking about fact. If anyone knows anything about it.
