Valve's Doug Lombardi has told IGN that the Left 4 Dead demo is coming early next month and he gave more details on the demo.

the upcoming Left 4 Dead demo will take place "from the front of the Survivor's first campaign (including the opening movie)." This area of the demo will encompass a hospital level, and an area "outside the Hospital."[br]

"The main part of the game has you play as one of four survivors who are immune to the virus that has turned most of the population into a variety of mutant zombies.

The game begins -- roughly 2 weeks after the break out of the virus ? with the first of four expansive campaigns (five maps in each campaign). The first campaign is the hospital (officially dubbed, 'No Mercy' - as you're challenged to make it to the top of Mercy Hospital)," wrote Lombardi.

While a specific date for the demo was not confirmed, Lombardi told IGN to expect it in early November.

:frown:

Slightly misleading thread title.
Made me think they were releasing L4D a little earlier than expected.

Will the l4d engine go with the ep3 engine?

Don't forget about the October 15th pre-order on Steam. :E

Getting the game immediately when it releases?

Oh. I suppose, that just doesn't seem like the type of thing I would get hyped up over. Perhaps if there were a beta or something. Better than having to download on the day I guess.

At least I can see if it works on my computer fine before I buy it. If not, Xbox 360 >:]

There was a beta for TF2 so maybe there will be one for L4D. Saying that as they are releasing a demo they may not bother. It is nice to have it all installed and ready to go on release though. :)
