I'm trying to fill-in the info. chart for the R600.
I'm trying to decide:
1) whether to wait to the new R600XTX/XT/etc.
2) buy the 8800GTX now.
3) wait for the R600 series and then buy an 8800GTX (after a price cut?)

So, what do we know by now: :borg:
XTX ver. 1 and ver. 2 models, Both feature 1GB DDR4 memories,
the OEM version is 12.4" long and the retail is 9.5" long.
Power consumption around 270W for 12" version and 240W for 9.5" version.
The XT model, will have 512MB of GDDR3 memory, 9.5" long,
and consumes around 240W.

Anyone who knows more, please, don't be shy. share.

If you can, you wait. It's a win-win situation. Either lower Nvidia prices, a refresh on Nvidia produces OR an ATI DX10 card...which ever seems to be the better deal. (We don't know which will be yet)

about your sig ..you hate the middle east yet are from israel? somethings not kosher

anyways wait for the ati/nvidia price drop if you can

I'm not sure of the win-win situation.
8800GTX now! or 1gb DDR4 later.
hopefully we'll get more info in the upcoming days.

bout the sig:
HannyBanny, lifes a bit more complex then that,
and "hate" is such a harsh word.
I prefer my virtual/artistic/action pact world any day.
..but.., home is home (and I don't eat kosher), c ya ;-)

Random question: What kind of advantages does DDR4 give?

Im not sure what you are saying when replying to Stern, but I will say that you should wait. There arnt any games out yet that would need that sort of processing power, so might as well wait. If price isnt really an issue then I would go for the best card at the time. If it is an issue, I would wait to see what the reviews say for the new cards, and determine if they are worth the extra cash. Also, I would get the retail version of the card over the oem.

If the reviews for the R600 dont go crazy over the improvement over the 8800 though, I would just get an 8800 and that will last you long enough for the next big jump in graphics processing.

Neither of his posts are that hard to figure out.

Like everyone is saying, wait for the games to come out. Paying for a premium you're not going to use for months would be daft.

The fan alone on that card looks like a leaf blower.
Maybe with that fan my computer could get into low orbit.

Good point Krynn72, getting a thingy that will last long enough for the next big jump - thats good strategy:farmer:

About the DDR4, in general, faster memory, that can be handled faster/better by the processor.
The GPU in this case.
