I'm coming to my final year at my school, and I am very interested in photography and would like some sort of career in it. However, I know it's not that easy and wish to seek advice from members here who have had the same idea as me.

Tell me like what you did when you left school. Did you go to college, and if so, what did you do there? Is college the same as school? Like, are you treated as a kid, or as an adult? How easy is college?

You know, things like that would be much appreciated :)

Go to college and take classes in anything that's ever interested you. Apply for financial aid and scholarships if you have to, it's worth while to pursue your passions.

You're very much able to act as a full adult and do whatever you please. I do suggest you go to class, though. It's absolutely nothing like lower school(s), you make your own work and can decide which lectures you want to attend for the most part. You can also take classes in whatever interests you so if you encounter any excessive monotony, it's usually your fault. Find a niche and roll with it -- don't feel too obligated to go into college with one field in mind, that's needless limitation. Do, however, try everything and go after things you enjoy.

You should definitely move to LA ASAP and try to start up a band, fail, and then become homeless. It seems to be the cool thing to do these days.

(I kid do not move to LA you will be homeless and have to whore yourself)

College is super, he is in England so he's talking about college as in 17/18 year olds and not 18+ like University. Sup Xendance.

I loved college. I wanted to study scriptwriting and acting so I went to a specialist one and did it. Loads of colleges do photography courses and of course it's free to go to most. Are there colleges near you? Google it and see if anything comes up.

Another thing: I want to do as well as I can in school/college etc, but get out of education as soon as possible.

Life after school?

There is no life after school. It's only there to plump up your juicy brain which will be extracted and processed as a delicacy for the elite.

I think a good thing to do is take business in college, as well as photography.

Winning combination? I think so.

THEN YOU CAN MAKE YOUR OWN PHOTOGRAPHY BISNISS WHEN YOU GET OUT OF COLLEGE. You get me?

Why not join the United States Army? I hear that's pretty fun.

But the GAYS Zombie, dont forget THE GAYS in the military.

If people who want to serve in the military want to be gay, they should stick with the "Don't ask, Don't tell" policy imo. I don't want to know, and I don't care about what they think they are entitled to.

Oh no, Saturos has made you all Saturoses!

I'm going to into media/communications, no matter what shit my parents pull. : /

****ing accountancy.

Life kinda sucks after school.

So, y'know, just end it all.

Yeah he means sixth form college, A-Level studies. Dont think there are many colleges that do photography, you best bet is to choose some good, all-around subjects to keep your options open, and then go into photography at uni, but there is a huge competition for jobs in it, and there arent many places.

Also, I thought he said pornography at first haha.

Don't do just photography do some proper subjects to fall back on as well.

17 next year?

College. Not the uni one

I'm 16 in May next year, then I leave school in June.

I've been advised not to go to Uni, but he didn't give me a reason why. I know there is a massive competition in it, but I could start young, get myself known and see where that takes me.

Don't do just photography do some proper subjects to fall back on as well.

I plan to do that.

my advice is think ahead.dont just make decisions you will come to regret, my sister took photography and realized that she didnt want to do it half way through colledge and by then it was to late.all i studied was physics and physcollogy (i still cant spell it!!)

I'm in a senior in a major research univsersity (not exactly sure about the differences between college/uni in the UK, but in the US it's simply a naming convention). Short answer, it's better than high school, but a lot more work. But it's probably a lot more work because I'm an engineering major.

Also, Professors can make your break your college experience. When you find a school you wish to go to I'd suggest looking up ratings of all the professors you sign up for...I've had so many shitty ones that make me miserable.

Big money in the future...big money...and a hope to get out of the United States.....please gawd

Best of luck to you, though!!

I always hated school. I loved college though. I actually looked forward to going every day because I was learning about things I was interested in.

I guess we can rule out Lawyer ....high priced call girl or frequent flyer crack ho is all I can think of that makes that much

Life after school sucks because well, you have to get a life. WHICH is good, but it still has some major downfalls.

College life is also meh.

Oh yeah, I live in a grand palace with gold plated toilet seats and little plasma screen TVs in each bowl, so my guests can watch TV while puking after a long night of debachery.

...

...

...

The hard crappy truth: My dad says he'd still treat me like a kid. No matter now much money I make as long a still live in his house.

*I hate being a responsible adult and havi... grumble grumble.*

Do not listen to this man, he has proved himself terrible at life and being an adult due to intolerance, generally being a retard and AIDS.

College is amazing. He also is not from Britain and has no idea what he is talking about when he says "college".

Oh that's right I'm sorry, what do you do for a living again?

Congratulations! When are you going to get onto the part where you find a "life"?
This coming December is when I leave for basic and then eventually Officer Candidate School.

Then more school. I just can't seem to get away from it for some reason as I'm a career student.

Hey guess that graduation thing was kind of a lie then. Seeing as I dropped out due to you know, almost dying, and yet I STILL have a super job, and you're going on to do more school.

To do what?

This?

I hope you fall over and scrape BOTH your knees, Saturos. I really mean that too >: |

Hmm, cheers for the advice. I think when I return to school, I'm going to talk to a careers advisor or w/e they're called.

College or Six form ftw.

Leaving school - 16, bad idea.

You should be one of those chavs that I've heard so many good things about.
