Light problems

When I use normal lighting (no HDR) with an entity env_sun and light_environment the headcrabs in my map, as well as the ones attached to the zombies and most props, have a weird shiney white texture to them.

This only happens when they are in the shadow out of the way of the sun and light. In HDR mode it is even worse and all props have an extremely bright white glow to them.

I just can't work out what the problem is. Can anyone help me please. :(

Have you placed any cubemaps in your map and most importantly: did you run the "buildcubemaps" command in the game?
 
Most definately a cube map problem. Only models with specular maps display like that when there are no cubemaps, or when you don't build cubemaps.
