Hey I have 2 distinctive problems on my map, first is that a major structure in the game cant seem to cast shadows on itself.. it's constructed almost entirely out of func_details because it's so open it doesn't have any visblocking ability.. Anyways the problem is the structure (and pretty much all brushes) dont cast shadows so when inside, the lighting looks like it has no roof.
Props cast shadows on the building, so it certainly can recieve shadows.... other porp deatails in the map cast shadows so I dont know...

Now my next problem is when I look at certain prop deatails on a another structure comprised almost entirely out of prop details it looks fine. The problem is when I move the angle of my view slightly orlook at it from certain positions parts of the columns turn completely black...

any help discovering the origins of this area would be greatly appreciated

EDIT: upon looking at the first pics more, it seems the tree shadow is passing though the ceiling of the structure without being blocked....
