Well, i have my computer connected to the internet through a wireless router. Everything was going fine until my computer crashed today. I got disconnected from the router and can't reconnect. I get the error "Limited or No connectivity" and when i try to repair it says something about invalid ip address or something. It's pretty important that i get this fixed ASAP. Any suggestions?

Also, i searched on this error and got alot of SP2 crap, i'm pretty sure this problem for me has nothing to do with SP2

First thing to do if you are having internet problems is

Turn off your computer
Power off or turn off any internet hardware (ex. router, hardware firewall)
Wait 1 minute.
Plug in or Power on internet hardware.
Wait 1 minute.
Power on computer.

If this doesn't do it, you can also try unpluging the ethernet for 1 minute before pluging it in and powering up your internet hardware

Have any other wireless PCs in the house that could have taken that IP address?
Reseting the router doesn't allow you to get to the configuration page through a browser?

I tried unplugging the router and now the other computers connected can no longer connect to it

Eh?
you pluged everything back in?

and now all the computers can't connect to the internet?

I made a mistake on my 1st post.
Try reading it again, and try it again.

can you access the routers settings, 192.168.2.1 normally.
or try "my.router" without quotes.

make sure your computers are set to obtain IP addresses automatically, that might help. Network and Dial-up connections > LAN > Properties > TCP/IP Properties.

as a last resort, you could try doing a hard reset, i think u take a needle and poke a hole (no comments) behind the router. ive never done it before though.

Well i got one connected, but not the way it should be connected

What chipset is your MS-7030 running Asus?

Im sorry I can't be more help. Even my brother works for *internet provider* and he doesn't know alot about that part.. he's a programer not a tech or whatever

they are complicated and mysterious
lol

Is the hardware faulty? big rainstorm last night?

Did you do as I said in my first post?

I had to call my IP once, and they helped me get back up

You say you got one computer working, but not how it was supposed to be. How did you hook it up? *confused

Once, I had somehow fubar'd my browser settings and had to re-install windows..........

Hi!

I have the same kind of problem! I have 3 computers (win xp) on a network, everything was fine, the internet worked perfectly, untill I had to disconnect the router (because we're planing to install a wireless one). Without the router non of my computers have an internet connection. Each one says: "Limited or no connectivity" when I attached them to the DSL modem. BUT when I reconnect them to the router, everything works just perfectly.
The thing is, I can't install the wireless router, unless I disconnect the old router, and have an internet connection straith from the DSL modem!
Please help! I have no idea what to do!!! I tried the "repair connection" but it said something about couldn't renew IP address or something...
Thanx!!!

How have you connected then?

The problem kinda sounds like its a fault with the router assigning IP's to pc's that try and connect. Does your router use a DHCP? That would allow you to just switch on the pc and the router would do all the work assigning the ip's which will probably be something like 192.168.1.***.

i just had this problem yesterday and how i fixed it was right click on my computer go to properties then hardware and then device manager now go to network adapters and press unistall then restart the pc and u should be fine from there

I had this issue when I was using a DSL connection and upgraded to SP2. I could connect to the Internet for about 5 seconds before being booted off and getting the 'limited or no connectivity' error. My ISP was clueless and absolutely no help at all. I tried uninstalling SP2 but that didn't correct the problem so in the end I had to format and re-install XP. SP2 works fine with my cable connection though.. shrug.
