Little Big Planet has pirates :)

dey so cuuute :3

[edit] oh god that music has me in stiches, I NEED this game

Hahaha! Just saw this on gametrailers and it looked awesome. Doesn't seem like there is any end to the amount of fun you can have with this title!!

The music is from a group called The Go! Team. Also this game looks pretty cool - like a cutesy version of Garry's Mod.

I can't get enough of the music. I've watched all the Little Big Planet trailers over and over for the music. Oh, and the fact that it looks completely awesome. I can't wait to make levels with other little sack-people.

Cool! One of the few great reasons for why I still own a PS3 :D

The only game worth getting a ps3 for. Such a shame its a ps3 exclusive. **** you soney, It makes me hate you even more.

Yep......... That's the ONLY game worth getting a PS3 for. I completely agree with you. You are RIGHT.

Yeah, **** Sony. If they hadn't gone and made the game in the first place then you wouldn't feel all shitty that you don't get to play it.

Then again it also wouldn't exist...

Hhaha, thats awesome as hell. What do you do though? Like ... is there any point to anything or is it just a sandbox to screw around with?

This is the only game I've seen on the PS3 that interests me so far. Kudos +100. cool music.

Thats okay though, I'll just watch all the youtube videos that are sure to cause mass overflow. It's so cool to watch.

I don't want to take anything away from it, but it's basically Yoshi's Island from the SNES, except with PS3 graphics. Nintendo is pissed like, "why didn't we do this?" Ah, maybe with the Wii 2oo.

The first time I saw that I knew this game would be awesome. 4 player co-op, making your own levels, and the little guys lip sync when you chat over comms :) You can drop bad guys into levels and add your own textures and pictures - it's going to be ****ing great.

I think they should tweak the physics. It's a bit too floaty IMO. I don't know it's just a bit off, completely forgivable I guess. I'm already grown bored after a few videos. Cool though. Slick visuals for real.

Warbs, don't it remind you of Yoshi's Island?!

A little bit, although it lacks the felt tip pen look of Yoshi's Island. Perhaps more Viva Pinata. In HD it looks really crisp and lovely.

I'm going to try and recreate Hell, 'worms' stylee. Flaming seas and pitchforks.

It's cool no doubt. I'd buy it if I had a PayStation3 :p

It looks like a lot of fun to create worlds with, especially with friends taking part in the creation of your masterpiece. I can't say enough about it.

The 'game' part turns me off honestly. Never liked platform games, save a few like Super Mario World (SNES).

In my generation, video games were just plagued with 1000's of shoddy platformers and it ruined them for me.

The 'game' part turns me off honestly.

It looks fun enough - more of a sandbox platformer. You never know, it could be awesome as a platformer. There's plenty of scope for physics puzzels and traps and we haven't seen the enemy types yet or whether we can tailor them.

That's true. Is there any evidence there will be enemies though?

They were announced when lip-synching was. I haven't read any new details since.

Yup all we know is that there are enemies.

I'm sure that they will ship with some sort of initial levels with enemies and bosses and what not.

Obviously the real "meat" of the game is in the sandbox to do whatever you want.

No, it's going to be painful & not remotely as much 'fun' as people imagine. You're being sold on the illusion of it being 'fun' where as the reality will be considerably different. :dozey:

Did your magic 8-ball tell you that?

Did your magic 8-ball tell you that?

How long do you think it's going to take to make a decent game level in LBP in reality? You think you're going to magically create perfectly usable game levels in a matter of a few minutes, a few hours or a few days? Consider how long the developers probably take, and then consider the fact that they're not doing it in the spare time, then do the math in terms of hours. Sure some people will get into it, but the majority of people aren't going to have the time to pull off anything truly innovative and aren't going to want to invest their time in it long term.

It's a great looking game, but the concept is packaged to deceive.

I have a feeling you are dreadfully underestimating the modding community at large. Sure, some folks will be content with playing content generated by others but a large amount of us with even just a hint of imagination are going to let it run wild--no matter how long it takes!! Woohoo!!

Level creation is one of the reasons I'm looking forward to this game. Regardless of how long it will take, there looks to be so many possibilities. How, exactly, are you so sure that many people aren't going to make maps? If it's easy enough to do, I'm sure plenty of people with give it a go at least once. Above all, the whole point of the game is to have fun, whether it's playing alone or with others. Is it really that hard of a concept to understand?

I'm all for content creation. Sandbox is great, but it should always be the supplement rather than the main course, because it does rely heavily upon user input. Consider the Sims 2 community which has more active members than LBP is ever likely to have, but 99.9% of what gets uploaded to the Sims 2 website is utter crap in truth. Yes there are a few people making some high quality work worth downloading, but they are few and far between, and are pretty dedicated. The same can be said of the Movies, great game, but again 99.9% of the movies people upload are utter crap. Just because someone gives you a tool set doesn't make you a good designer by default (a common mistake people seem to make a lot). Sorry if I'm pissing in your ear here lads, I know your all moist for LBP, but a month after purchase it will be gathering dust on most peoples shelves.

You're not comparing like for like.

We've seen how easy it is to create things in lbp. Sure, entire well designed levels may be beyond some people, but who cares when you can make a hill and roll down it on a skateboard? The co-op side of things combined with how user friendly the interface looks is what attracts me. Put a cowboy hat on, spawn a jetpack, fly about, balance a huge bowl of fruit on a tower of bricks and knock it down.

So bah humbug to you!

You're comparing the Sims 2 fanbase to LBP's? That's a flaw in your argument right there. The Sims appeals largely to the female population, and mostly casual gamers. LBP appeals to pretty much anyone looking for a unique and fun experience, whether it be the hardcore gamer or the someone who rarely plays games. Both games are completely different regardless, and there are probably a lot of details with LBP that we don't know about yet. No one knows to much ready-made content there will be upon release. You're making it sound like the game will consist only of user made levels.

About it sitting on the shelf after one month... I haven't touched Orange Box since October. I'm not really into multiplayer FPS, so that's one of the reasons. LBP, however, looks like nothing I've ever played before, which is a great thing. Innovation in gaming these days is hard to come by. Portal did it well, but after beating all of the challenges with 100% achievements, I haven't gone back to it.

There will be tons of little areas to download from users, but when it comes to actual levels to play, I'll bet they will be few and far between. And don't forget that each one you download will be from the limitted resources included with the game.

how many themed objects do you think there will be after all. So far, we've got the pirate theme, the sandy beach, and the trees... how many levels will you download that are going to basically be the same thing - but with a different placement of objects. Talk about repetative.

I think the coolest part of the game will be when it's brand new and you haven't seen anything yet, and you and some buds create a little place with whatever objects you like, and do a bit of shared artwork.

Well, the level creation is the cool part, but just how many cool objects do you think they include with the game?

I'll bet you will have seen it all in a week, and grow tired of the materials the game comes with.

sure you can import images, but you can't import objects and textures - only decals to be placed on the existing objects.

In the end it all depends on how deep of an object set they give you.

No doubt it will be a PayStation title where you pay to download more content.

I'm not even saying anything bad about the game, I'm just saying, don't get disappointed when your 'endless' world is just a handful of a few themed parts that you have to put together.

Again, I'm not knocking the game, and I especially like the concept, lets just hope that there is some way of importing new material (objects, textures, sounds, characters, etc.)

If it was for the PC, the community would be creating NEW RESOURCES to use, and you could download them for FREE. Things like sheet metal, new trees, etc.

LBP doesn't even have a player base yet, but I'm not seeing that it's going to be any different in terms of output in comparison to the sandbox games that have proceeded it, simply because 'Girls are only good for making babies & stuff, not gaming'. Sims 2 is anything but a casual game, and neither is it's frankly enormous modding community. I think a big part of LBP games critical success will depend greatly upon the amount of ready-made content the developers put into the game. If it has some kind of SP or Co-op game mode in there & the sandbox is a supplement, then it's all good, but if it is just a few levels and a sandbox...not so good.

It's like ANY game that has user-created content.

There's tons of junk that's fun for like a minute, then you have the rare gem that's just pure gold.

Take Halo3 stuff for instance. There is so much crap on there, but every once and a while, you'll find an awesome new gametype / map!

When I said fanbase, I meant fanbase, and not playerbase. There are a lot of people that are really looking forward to what this game has to offer. Also, when I said that The Sims appeals mostly to females, I wasn't saying that only females play it. But it's that type of game. None of my male friends (who are all gamers and have been for a while) have ever had any interest in The Sims, yet my sister and a few of her female friends are really into it. The Female to Male ratio for that game is probably much higher than almost any other popular game.

What I'm really trying to get at is how you seem to be predicting that LBP is going to fail. The fact is, no one has any real idea of how this game will fare when it gets released. There could be a lot of information that it's developers haven't given us yet. So, instead of telling people that the game is not going to be as good as it looks (which is a complete guess on your part), just let them decide for themselves once we know more about it.

Guesswork is me trying to predict which cup the ball is under. What I've actually done is assess the reality of the games premise as hinted at in the media we've seen, evaluated that information against what's come before in other situations, and drawn a more lukewarm conclusion than some people seem to like. Sure the game might turn into a riproaring success, but personally I won't be holding out for it doing so.
