I also realised this CS:S beta is killing 3 birds with one stone. In effect it is
-A HL2 benchmark
-A demo
-A "stfu at least we're giving you bitches something" thing...

How much is CZ? I Check online at eb games and it said $40 but people say they got it for around $20

they said that this is really a large scale test of the net code too...
 
Yeah, one thing im waiting for also is too see how good they have fixed up the netcode, cant wait
 
Have the mentioned how big the GCF cache file will actually be?
 
It's too bad it's not clear if he's talking about the CS:S beta or CS:S. Of course CS:S will be preloaded.. but CS:S beta, that's another question all together

Yeah I can't wait either, because of this thread I've actually closed and re-opened steam a dozen times to see if anything happens : |
 
i wouldn't rely on CS:S as a benchmark for HL2 SP. as we know MP is much less demanding on framerate and hardware to cater to high framerates for competitive play, its going to look great, but wont have the amount of detail/physics/AI as HL2 SP.

I don't see it as if they're just giving (some of) us something. If they encounter some netcode bugs and stuff, it'll only improve the final product & hl².
