Although I'm surprised they couldn't get Wyclef, he usually loves these kinds of causes.

He even did a collaboration called "New Day" with Bono for charity a few years ago.

They should get Wyclef on the bandwagon.

Umm... That's not really appropriate. There's obviously more to it than a discrete "I'm going to make babies and live off welfare" decision.

There is a small percantage that does things like you mentioned but there is also a small percentage of whites, asians, whatever that do the same. I honestly can't believe you just said that.

That site points to the number of recipients in welfare, not the race in general. For instance, 38% of white people are not on welfare. The reason whites have the highest number is because there are a lot more whites in the United States, and the whites in certain parts of the country (ie. trailer trash) have a very high welfare rate. However, if you looked at the percentage of black people on welfare compared to the percentage of whites, you'd find that the number is much larger with blacks.

However, that's really not the right way to look at this subject. It has nothing to do with race or ethnicity, rather the environment the person is raised in. I would be willing to bet that the percentage of white people who go on welfare who live in the same area as blacks are very close. Society has shown that such gaps are caused almost entirely because of the environment they lived in. Unfortunately, since American society was geared towards keeping blacks in low income districts for such a long period of time, they have not yet been able to rise out of their situation.

Well said. The welfare situtation in this country is a disaster and Republicans along with the Democrats aren't willing to do anything about it. Republicans want to get rid of the whole thing and just leave these people and their kids in the dirt while Democrats just want to keep pumping money in to it without actually trying to improve the results. It needs to change.
