I've recently installed hl2 game of the year edition and steam works fine, but when i try to load any of the games that came in the package....the game screen comes up and then i see the loading screen for a split second and then the game closes, but there is no error message. Ive already tried doing stuff with my firewall but it isnt working still. If someone can help me out regarding this, it would be much appreciated.

PC: Dell 4300 home edition
Processor speed: 1.7 gigs
ram: 512 mb
Graphics card: nvidia geforce2 (my driver is updated enough to run the game)
Directx 9.0

also i have norton internet security which sux major asshole and idk if that would contribute to the games not working, but if so, lemme know

can someone possibly relpy to this lol? sry im just a bit impatient and im anticipant to play cts and hl2

i'm having the same issue altho i do get some error messages popping up. its rather frustrating. i dont know if its an issue with goty edition or HL2 in general.

What are your system specifications? (A tutorial can be found here: Link)

I had the same problem when i first got the game... updateing my GPU drivers and installing directX 9.0c did the trick... thats why it couldnt load the super awsome 3D half life 2 background menu screen!!! you have to agree it is pretty cool the first time you load up HL2... but not woth the wait the second time you play...

i already posted my system specifics above for those who didnt see it, i believe i have all the system requirements to run it, but someone correct me if im wrong

where do you guys get these information about your comp.???

yea ill figure it out, ill repost again if im still having trouble

Your system is definitely pushing it. I'd be extra careful that Norton is pulling too much RAM (even though you said you turned it off, it's probably still lurking in the background). You really should upgrade your RAM.

Your card will cry at trying to run the game, too. I'd ask someone who knows a lot about hardware to help you with upgrading your computer (motherboard compatibility for new graphics card, etc) if you plan to upgrade your computer in the future.
