I know people have gone over the did-Breen-escape thing a million times, but here's 1 piece of info I haven't seen discussed.

In that red room in Ep 1 the Advisor's escape pod had "LOC17" printed on the side. On the first playthrough, I never noticed that writing, but this time I read it and immediately thought "Leader Of City 17."

?!!

The juxtaposition of Breen on the monitor, talking abt a host body, with an Advisor appearing seconds later in a case marked "LOC17", seems to be strong evidence that Breen escaped. He could have been that Advisor!

It could have been a random choice of letters, but "C17", not to mention "LOC17", is really intriguing. What are the chances of the game designers using that combo of letters without it meaning something?

Just some thoughts.

Certainly could be, though I would have been inclined to think it just meant location.

While it is a good observation i too think it means "location". I have to give you a point for originality and research though , something people rarely do when talking about this kind of thing.

Kudos for the find. I'm not sure what I think of "LOC17." But I do think Breen might still be alive somewhere (not to turn this into just another Breen thread). It seems like right now there is no singular main antagonist. Right now it's just a group of beings known as the Combine. It's a pretty vague enemy.

The idea of Breen being an Advisor is quite ludicrous; especially in the context of that scene.

Agreed. I think the body breen was going to use to survive in the overworld was some type of synth. Would make sense as almost everything else is a synth , even thier transport "choppers" :p.

Breen is not and was not the leader of City 17. Whatever suggestions in the game that brought you to that conclusion have been misinterpreted.

No but its easy to see where he got mixed up , breen was humanities "spokesman" i.e he did his best to make everyone like cattle so there was less resistance when the combine started turning the population into soldiers and stalkers ect. besides breens ego sure made it seem like at least he thinks he is the leader.

The whole "barcode" is 314 URB-LOC 0017.

Urban Location 17!
But does that mean there's 313 other Advisor pods? The Vorts have a long way to go to take em all down!
Breen was a sort of leader. He did the Breencasts, convincing people with passionate speeches not to rebel, the human face of the Combine and carrying out the Advisor's orders.
I believe the right word is "Quisling".

A bunch of maggots, gasmask-gnomes, and 3-legged tripods aren't exactly an in-your-face enemy. The only thing I can think of to fill that hole in in EP3 is for the Advisors to speak, like they did to Breen.

As for what they would say...

Yes and possibly many more , just not all in the citadel. There are more of those things you know (at least according to laidlaw and RtB)

Indeed. By the way, we see POD 314 crashed in Episode Two.

Where is it test? It's probably not significant to the story, Valve are likely to have used the same model in two locations.

Judging from the texture work, it might be something important. It's next to advisor barn (it can be seen in one of the trailers).

Edit: Here's a comparison of texture from Episode One and Two.
