I just got a new mouse - the Logitech MX 1000 - and I'm having trouble assigning functions to the mouse buttons when playing. I only get the two basic mouse buttons and the wheel, but the rest of my mouse buttons go to waste. This sucks especially since I've grown accustomed to using the mouse buttons. I've enabled the game detection options in SetPoint but there's no difference.

I also tried using a third party program called LogiGamer, that's supposed to allow me to make button assignments for different programs (mainly games), but I only got a bunch of errors when I tried it and couldn't use it at all.

So, anybody out there know how to get the full advantage out of my MX 1000 when playing HL2? Any help would be most appreciated.

I don't even have the Logitech program/drivers installed from the CD. I just plugged my wireless keyboard/mouse in and Windows XP detects it fine. I can assign the wheel, left button, right button, side back/forward buttons etc.

This thread just reminded me I still have my old Trust mouse drivers installed.

Edit: Logitech drivers work fine, back/forward doesn't seem to work in Firefox though. Turned them into Cut/Paste anyway.

Second Edit: Old drivers, installing newer ones.

Simonomis, when you install the drivers the forward and back buttons stop working, you need to go into the logitech software and change the function of these buttons to "generic button" then they should work

personally i think the mouse rocks but the software is crap, haven't installed it...

Yeh i have never been able to get the top button to open a new window to work.

I only installed the software so the Cruise Controll buttons would work smoothera and faster.

And so I could use application switch.

Worked with Firefox with new driver anyway but thanks. Changed middle mouse from universal scroll to generic button as well, wouldn't let me middle-click links in Firefox. Still a great mouse. :D
