Hi guys

In light of the terrorist attacks in London today, as a mark of respect to those injured and deceased, we have added a new Avatar that you can select from the UserCP.

It's exactly the same as mine and is bigger than the normal size, but it certainly is a good way to show your respects.

This has not affected the global size restriction on uploading avatars, and this isn't a sign that we'll be increasing the avatar size in the future.

Our thoughts go out to all the family and friends that have lost loved ones in this disaster. Everyone hang in there, we'll get through it all together as a country.

Well, I liked my lame attempt at a sign of condolence, but I will adopt yours.

not to say that I don't show remorse or support for what happened, I just don't want to stick out from the crowd atm.

I would change, but I'm to lazy.

Least I can do to show my sympathy.

Good gesture, its sad as these kind of things start to effect more and more countries.

What about the terrorist acts by bombers in arabian countries and other countires across the world? where's the avatar for them? :(

There's a difference. This happened TODAY. And most of the people here are from the UK.

Shit like this happens every day, just seems kinda biased but meh

Yeah, it's a shame we make such a big deal out of this and not give a shit about the thousands of murders, rapes, and other bad shit that accounts for alot of death. We only pay attention to shit that makes news.

Well it's a British site, the staff (like the super mods/admins) are from the UK for the most part

Like a part of a book, or perhaps even a part of a nice jigsaw. Probably a jigsaw of 2 letterboxes on a short cliff.

I can't access my user CP to cahnge anything :(

Sure, I'll change my avatar, its the only thing I can do I'm sure.
Thanks.

Not relevant. I can guarantee you that more people die everyday in terrorist attacks around the world than they did in London. Not that this attack wasn't terrible, but your example should not have been used.
EDIT: New avatar. Kind of cramped, but maybe Munro will change the size seeing as how it doesn't affect the speed of the forums. :|

A nice idea :)

I guess this is the end of my Munro-spinoff avatar.

I am, and I was tempted to say "well I don't see a 9/11 avatar" but I decided against it. Bad shit happens everyday, but not coordinated attacks on civilians in the middle of London, which is why it's a big deal, other than the fact we have quite a few Londoners on the forum.

If we were online during 9/11 then we would have had a 9/11 rememberance avatar. The London one won't be a permanent fixture.

Hopefully we can take it down in a week because we've located the perpatrators with absolute certainty, or at least made some very significant steps towards closure.

A great move certain to show the online community and the world as a whole that we care.

The only drawback is that I'm finding it ever so slightly harder to recognise regulars. Solidarity = win, of course.

Yep, that's why we only have a small selection of default avatars. Having too many would mean that too many are duplicated and people would lose their individuality. As you said though, it wins in this case.

Also, despite it being a terrible disaster and we may never catch the murderers, I'm very impressed on how well we've recovered from it already. The pain will always be there but the courage of people has been amazing.

I get the train every day to and from work. This goes down the "mainline" which is basically north to south between Leeds and London. It surprised me today on how many people were going to London. When I'm on my way home, my stop is the last stop before London (goes straight from Leicester to London) and there were just as many tavellers as normal going into London.

It's a terrible tragedy and of course I wish it'd never happened; but we're recovering from it so well.

Agreed- as my 80-something grandma put it, it'll bring back the spirit of the Blitz. We're used to bombs, terrorism, and evil.

It's a monstrous atrocity but if they thought we'd back down and cry in our beds, they're grossly mistaken.

Still flying out to Spain- only difference is I'll bring the Daily Telegraph over for my dad. And then he can join the millions speaking out after seeing the carnage.

As far as support goes, they're outnumbered half-a-billion to one.

I guess because a week has gone by?
Yeah, there was a 2 minute silence at 13.00.

I changed my avatar now too.

The 2 minute silence was at 12:00, there was a thread about it.
