A couple of friends and I are considering walking to the south of of Sweden this summer. It's about 300 km, and we figure isn't gonna take between 2-3 weeks. Does anyone have any experience of this that they can share?

But seriously, in km it should take about a week. In lightyears it will take you 1.5X10^11 years. And in inches it should take you no more than 2 hours.

km.

Seriously, a week? We figure we'd walk on average 20 km a day. We could walk faster, but it's supposed to be fun, too.

I guess if you go really slowly or only walk for like 4 or 5 hours a day.

Most people walk around 4 or 5 km/h casually. This works out to at least 30 km in an 8 hour day. I assume that you can walk for more than 8 hours. It wouldn't be a walking trip if you only walk for 1/3 of the time. That means 10 days at an easy pace. Of course if you are really overweight or have asthma or something it would be slower.

Doesn't Sweden have some laws where it's legal to camp on public (maybe even private?) land if you're traveling, so you if you have a tent you don't have to worry about where you can sleep?

Did you know the south of Sweden has more in common culturally with Denmark then it does Sweden?.

Apparently it used to be part of the Danish kingdom, but then again, all you Scandy types used to belong to the Danes.

My opinion?, go for it, travelling is great, the best part being the journey in my mind, walking means you get to appreciate every km of it.

Pretty much, yeah. How did you know about that? People on the internet seem to know a lot about Sweden.
