This Quad-Core Socket AM2 Opteron 148 just hit over 3GHz from stock 1.9Ghz by just raising FSB by way of 120MHz and volts from 1.273 to 1.297. this is over 60% OC.

Just read on, something is coming.
All AMD Fanboys go ahead you can hold your breath now.:bounce: :bounce:
Where is Brick? I wanna talk to him.

I have no doubt that AMD will release a CPU thats going to outperform Intels current lineup. Thats what makes AMD & competition so wonderful. However, a simple overclock is not going to make it a better processor. My brother-in-law has an Opteron & has it overclocked. Quite frankly, it kicks butt, no doubt about it, but it's not in the same class as my C2D just because it's been overclocked.

After reading the benchies from the AMD 5600+, I have given great thought to switching to AMD when I build clients their new PC's that are lower/mid-range. That processor is impressive, the more so for the price tag it carries.

Quad core is very nice and all, but shy of being a heavy CAD user or scientific number cruncher, the Dual cores are not even close to being fully utilized, let alone 4 Core processors. I wonder what the first "Quad Core" optimized program or game will be. One that truely takes advantage of the extra cores to their fullest potential.

As always, good read Barney. Thanks!

And then Intel will release their 45nm lineup.

Say hello to the next gen of processors.
