An interesting work in progress. It uses Google maps to show landmarks and sometimes photos comparing locations throughout modern history.

Note, the author is from San Fransisco, California, so that's pretty much the only place it is working well at the moment.

A good place to examine the basic functionality: http://www.lookbackmaps.net/index.php#lat=37784724|lng=-122404218|zoom=15|checked=2,5,6,7,8|type=1

As a San Francisco resident, LookBackMaps founder Jon Voss has understandably done a lot of work to organize photos from that city. But LookBackMaps's latest project has a much larger scope, in terms of regions and history and in terms of cultural preservation and linked data.

Apparenlty phoographers get worse as time progresses.

That tram looks like it's from the 60s-70s.

If anything the 50s one looks more modern.

Progress. Heavier cars, new signs, same shit from 50 years ago.

I was thinking all of the same things, everyone. First of all though, the buildings were relatively new in 1955, I would assume. So that makes the old one look newer. But besides that, yeah. Shitty camera.
