Lookie, the HL2 demo!

mmmmm..... because Star Ship Troopers 2 & Half Life 2 have loads in common dont they?! no they are not ant lions!

You can't afford to be gullable for one second on these forums... ;(

This is the strangest AI i have ever seen.

Anyone read the book by Robert A. Heinlein : Starship Troopers ? Its one of the best sci-fi books i've read. Nothing to do with the movie.

is it me or does it seem like an impossibility that i will one day log onto the forum to see a 100 page thread named "REAL HL2 DEMO OUT NOW" that appeared overnight?

i mean, ONE DAY, the game will be out. actually think about it. it actually feels both exiting and strange at the same time that one day you will come home with a shiny copy of halflife2 in your hands.. no crappy errors.. no crappy leaked codes... just the full game in your disc drive...

dammit, if only the game were to come out now i would have my 6 weeks summer holiday to play it.. but NOOO it will come out when im in year 11 at school with bucketloads of coursework :flame:

HL2 demo won't be out until after HL2.. so I doubt many will care about a demo (unless it's like the Uplink demo, and it's part of SP but at a different time or what have you)

Yeah, that's one of my biggest problems with HL2...you'd think they could have dug a little deeper and come up with a HALFWAY original enemy design.

We haven't seen nearly all the enemies yet...but yeah, they are a slight ripoff.

Okay, alright game. Up until the point where you're attacking them, they're attackign you and your health is going down faster than theirs. Brilliant. Good until level 3...

There aren't many movies and games with original aliens and enemies.

Most of the aliens and gasmask troopers and stuff were invented long ago, in the 50s B-movies for instance. :)

However, the Half-Life and Half-Life 2 enemies have an unique feel to them because of the storytelling and their general behaviour and appearance. The headcrab might remind you of a Facehugger, but they're in my opinion completely different due to a number of reasons.

For instance, the Facehugger is a mean creature without any feelins, whose only goal is to plant an alien in your chest. It is fast and cowardly, and when it jumps onto a person it reminds you more of a machine than a creature.

The headcrab however, is a hungry lil' critter who likes to turn people into zombies. The round look of them makes it look less mean and almost like it has feelings, especially when it tries so hard to slowly move towards you with it small backlegs. :)

Personally I don't see any similarities between arachnids and ant-lions except they have a carapace-exoskeleton. Its like saying that Jim and Jane look similar because they are both human, but ones a female and the other male

Next your going to tell me that arachnids are similar to the 50's 'Attack of the killer ants'

Try tellin a headcrab that it is a fat arse, and see if it replies 'I'm big boned'
